Gamescom 2014: Sony Proves PlayStation is Still King of the Exclusives

While everyone is losing their mind over The Rise of the Tomb Raider going to Xbox, they've overlooked the obvious: PlayStation remains the exclusive king.

If they are related then this is a true Sony exclusive and not a timed exclusive. Sony owns the Heavenly Sword IP. They are not going to take an IP like that and allow it to be published on the X1.

It isn't related. Besides, those are Norse runes on the blade of the sword the featured character is holding and as such doesn't fit with the Heavenly Sword's almost Eastern setting. Could Kai have travelled far in search of answers? Yes. If so then she won't find any resolution on the Xbox.

Sonys lineup at Gamescom was really good. We saw a lot of great new trailers for a ton of upcoming games including Destiny, Until Dawn, The Tomorrow Children, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Hollowpoint, Hellblade, LittleBigPlanet3, Wild, Tearaway Unfolded, Drive Club and Infamous First Light.

Yeah, they are related. They're made by the same developer, Ninja Theory. There's a similarity in art style, but they look pretty different to me. We'll have to wait to see more, but I'm sure they are quite distinct.

I don't know if the dead stuff (skeletons) are playable, as well as giants (my guess would be those are NPCs). But it sure looked like some kind of 4 player multi-species coop was going on in planty of moments of that trailer.

I'm thinking you unlock the ability to play as certain creatures as you play the game. Not sure how you unlock them, but might be from defeating them or capturing them. Notice how he fought a pack of wolves (that looked like it was controlled by another player) and then had his own wolf pups?

YES! A man platinumed Demon's Souls but wasn't crazy about it. If Bloodborne has a better checkpoint system then a man is in. The Order looked fantastic as well as Infamous First Light and all the indies! Too much for a man and Destiny will be taking so much of his time now lol. Oh and FC4 and LBP3 are on his Christmas list!

WILD has so much potential and i can see why he went for PS4 as a platform that would be most appropriate.

It's like a mashup of Tokyo Jungle and Afrika, but on a whole other scale. This game is AAA in scope and visuals, and I can't see how anyone can point and laugh and say "LOL indie" at such a game. Same for RIME. Same for No Man's Sky. Same for The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Same for Dreamfall Chapters.

And it's Michel Ancel for f**ks sake. This is one of Sony's BIG games.

Guys in my opinion I think Sony and mircosoft doesn't have many games that interest me and the presentation didn't have anything that excitied me. The only game I really cared about is bloodborne and I'm a big dark souls fan. But at the same time im a big halo fan and I would rather play halo because it's a great game. but in all honesty are you all really going to have time to play every exclusive any of these companies put out. Not to mention most of the multiplatform games have a ton of replay value. I have a xbone and wiiu. The games I'm getting this year are destiny, nhl 15, cod aw, halo Mc and super smash brothers. Only one in buying is a exclusive and it's really just to own it and try the halo 5 beta.

Yeah man i would too because its a fresher experience but its not justifiable when i finish that game i know my ps4 will become a dust collector. And thats my biggest worry. I dont like buying something and then not using it for what its worth. All my friends are on xbox and they love it and so far i havent heard a single reason for them to jump ship. My buddy laughed me when he said your going to buy a $500 dark souls machine. I had to painfully agree.

Nearly every game has me more excited than all of ms stuff. QB looks like really good but i don't like the animations so far. lets see. from an artistic standpoint sony has everything covert and so much stuff in their pipeline to make us very happy over the next few years :D

Isn't hell raid, half the games show on sony's conference time exclusives & coming to xbox one or pc. Ms has two new ips sunset & ori which is not indie, Forza horizon 2, dance central spot light & halo: mcc plus ki season 2 which brings new characters, gameplay mechanics & stories. Hell raid is timed thats been confirmed, dayz as well is not exclusive. I really like the conference, they showed some really great games, but he does have a point (somewhat), out of the third party stuff shown, only 2 games were actual (not timed exclusives). Which in the end shouldnt even matter, no gamer will ever benefit from exclusivity, i´ve never understood people who take pride somehow for this kind of stuff

This is definitely a sequel to Heavenly Sword. It's called Hell Blade which is the opposite to the original title. And I have no doubt whatsoever that is Kai. Same dreads, blue eyes, face paint, stripes in her cheeks, the paint on the lower lip, etc. (Pic related)

Ps2 was awesome, And the funny thing is most games on ps2 was what people are calling Indie now, People should do some research a lot of games on previous gen was indie. The difference is that they couldn't release their game on a network like psn/xbl ect.. They had to get a publisher to make the disc release.

To me, this looks like Sony giving Ninja Theory the opportunity to take an IP they made and make it their own without Sony getting in the way. Kind of like what MS is doing with Insomniac. But, Hellblade is definitely multiplatform.

Not interested in any new game announced during GamesCom. PS3 era was the true era of superp exclusives. This era should be defined as the era of the remastered exclusives (TLOS) and Tearway (originally a Vita game)..... and more to come.

Remasters are also coming to third party games like GTA5. Microsoft is doing Halo MCC remaster of all previous Halo games.

This generation seems to be average compared to previous generation.

Such an incredibly misleading article. Hellblade is not exclusive at all, Hollowpoint is a timed console exclusive and there was no statement made on the exclusivity on PT (Silent Hills). If anything, it's fair to assume that it's not exclusive.

Indies provide great, creative experiences typically not found elsewhere. Sony has plenty of triple AAA content in the development pipeline. People were angry with Sony for denying them the choice with EA access, I think they by offering the largest collection of diverse games are truly giving all types of games the ability to choose. Liking indie music, or movies seems to be the it thing, but somehow they become relegated to, "Just indies", in gaming. The same people that tout the indies on one platform, bash the ones on the opposite platform. People are so slippery in trying to defend what they've chosen to buy. By the way, you're not defending your platform when you argue usually, you're defending your ego because you've chosen to identify with said product. Enjoy the games whatever they might be.
