Cinelinx - " There were a lot of indie titles shown off, but you could count the amount of times Vita was mentioned. Want a Hint? It only takes one finger. "

Why was Sony's gamescom all about PS4 ? I don't know why.

iamnsuperman3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

Because it is year one of the PS4. It is like when the Vita launched a lot of the focus of these conferences went to the Vita. Also the Vita isn't a popular device and Sony knows this. We could expect Sony to pump lots of money into the Vita but the problem is people are not buying the games. Tearaway is one of the Vita's most innovative and interesting titles and it sold a tiny amount. There are games coming for it but Sony's main focus is the PS4 and quite rightly so. It is selling at a phenomenal rate and could put Sony in a position to have a huge market share

Pillsbury13967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

Agreed they are focusing on the moneymaker. Although I love my vita and all the free ps plus games I get, I understand that it's not selling as well as Sony would like and they want to focus on what has the most momentum.

ONESHOTV23967d ago

lol look at the die hard fan defend Sony.. sir it looks like you don't own a vita so what ever you are saying is all sh-t. man Sony gets me so f-ing mad how can you leave out the vita at E3 and games com.yes {imsuperman} Sony f up on this one really bad so stop being young and stupid why defend Sony when you can clearly see what they are doing. you talk about sales of the vita whose fault is that that is Sony problem if they made games that people demanded and advertise it there would be no problem. be smart don't follow the crowd

Soldierone3967d ago

(Not bashing your opinion, just carrying the discussion)

Actually it didn't. Vita was announced shortly before E3 and it was hardly mentioned at E3 that year. It was only the focus of their events ONE time during that same years GamesCom, after that Vita was put on the back burner.

The only other time Vita had a focus was during a pre-taped Japan event. And almost none of the games announced during that ever released outside of Japan. Same thing normally happens with TGS.

And based on the logic of "it's simply not popular so they can ignore it" doesn't work well with me as a consumer either. So basically, anytime Sony releases something I should sit back and hope it takes off on it's own? Otherwise don't bother? Imagine if Apple did that with iPods, it'd be in the same boat as Sony MP3 players right now, pretty dead. Heck PlayStation itself took off thanks to marketing. When's the last time you saw a Vita commercial/Ad?

iamnsuperman3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

I am just going to ignore ONESHOTV2. Look at what soldierone did and then look at your comment. Big difference in the levels of respect (even though we disagree)

@ Soldierone
I remembered it differently. Maybe miss remembering. If the ipod was in the same position as the Vita apple would have abandoned it and tried something new. The PS4 is extremely popular and Sony feels it is a way in for the Vita. Ignoring that popularity could be quite damaging for the PS4 place in the market. Sony has an incredible share at the moment (almost 45-50%) That is something to capitalize on. Not ignore and try and help a struggling platform. That is the key thing

Th4Freak3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

If the PSV isn't popular you make it popular and if it's games aren't selling you make people want to buy them (hype).

Dude we're not talking here about sending the man to Mars, its just simple marketing that Sony isn't applying to the PSV.

Last PSV tv ad in US was in november 2012, no wonder why most people doesn't know what a PSV is, same goes for its games, no marketing at all, how do you want people to know about those games if you don't push them into mainstream media? Not to count that a big part of selling video games is to build hype.

I'm sorry dude but no, Sony has done the shittiest job ever supporting a platform. Thank god for Japanese studios or the PSV would be actually dead.

ONESHOTV23967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

sir i was not trying to be rude to you but the way you are defending Sony is getting to me.. what i'm saying is that just because the ps4 is selling it doesn't mean that Sony should abandon the vita. as i said before if Sony had listen to there customer there would be no problem of sales. i don't think you get how much money i have spent on the vita since launch let me tell you around 6 to 7 hundred dollars that 2 vita 100 memory stick and 25 games plus case add them up that around 700 dollars so don't give me crap about Sony and the vita plz.

iamnsuperman3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

@ONESHITV2
Better. Look the PS Vita is still getting a stupid number of titles this year and next (they are all there on Wikipedia if you want to look). So should it concern you that Sony doesn't publicise it. They are still there for you. Sony is publicising what is making them the most hype and the most business. This isn't blind loyalty but looking at these things logically. I would argue you're defending the Vita too much

BattleAxe3966d ago (Edited 3966d ago )

@ ONESHOTV2

I agree with what you're saying 100%. I was waiting for the Vita to be supported with games that I want to play, and only two games ever materialized, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Killzone: Mercenary.

I keep reading comments about how the Vita has tons of games, but they're mainly indie games that don't interest me. My idea of having a high powered handheld gaming console with dual analogue sticks, was to be able to experience AAA console type games like Uncharted, Killzone, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Tomb Raider ect...ect... not twin stick indie shooters.

Sony completely missed the boat with the Vita. They brought us an awesome piece of hardware, and then dropped support for AAA after KZ: Mercenary. They just did pretty much the same thing with Playstation Mobile, only in this case they didn't support it at all. I had it on my Xperia Z, and the selection of games was downright terrible. Again, Sony comes out with something awesome only to let it rot, and then they walk away from it.

So youre telling me Sony doesnt care about the gamer, they only care about the money

apparently i was the only one paying attention to the platforms for the trailers. a lot of the really cool indie games were for vita. i was actually thinking the whole time "cant wait to play that on vita!". Also, remote play. ever game is a vita game.

3-4-53967d ago

Just bought Disgaea 4 for Vita today. Tons of content and replay value in that game.

Other than that and Tales of hearts, there isn't much that I want for the Vita...maybe minecraft.

Viper73966d ago (Edited 3966d ago )

The reason is actually really simple, handheld game consoles aren't that big of a deal in the west compared to next generation consoles.

If you look at the most sold 3DS games you can see that most if not all of them are from Japan. This alone tells us how important market Japan is for handheld consoles when it comes to bigger games.

Vita is actually exceptional with so many of it's top titles coming from west, and even more with all the indie titles. But they still need to be at least fairly successful in Japan for the device to really take off.

They'll likely show more Vita related stuff in Tokyo Game show.

they got a 1 hour show and as far as i know they were entitled to 1 and a half hour, why not show some vita support, after all the buzz about e3 no vita and people saying they abandoned it you would think they would fix that, people go to see this events with a thought in mind and that is give me a reason to buy one ps vita, not showing anything for it makes it sell way less.

Vita has a ton of games comming out, more than 100 games on the making but why doesnt sony show mre support for it, ps vita has bad rep that is already dead and it isnt, sony its your job to show them they are wrong, maybe next time...maybe...

Love my vita and play it every single day but give people a reason to buy or continue to support this amazing handheld.

Th3o3967d ago

I have faith:) I play my vita almost everyday...and with such a small library I still have a bunch of games backlogged!

imXify3967d ago

At least at Tokyo Game Show it will be the complete opposite. Hopefully.

Whxian3967d ago (Edited 3967d ago )

whats the point though, we have to fight for every game to get over and we dont always end up getting them even after that .

for people who understand japanese/import games, that's not a problem, but it isnt going to help vita in the west

VforVideogames3967d ago

Well Microsoft won E3 , Microsoft won Gamescom , I think Microsoft its going for the kill in Sony's territory Tokyo Game Show, likes means they're going to win TGS, and disagrees means they will lose TGS.

Th4Freak3967d ago

I doubt it, considering that the PS4 is dry in Japan and its been selling below 8k per week i'd say that its going to be a 100% PS4 show. Hopefully i'm wrong.

Duke193967d ago

Haven't touched my Vita in months. Waiting for Sony to give me a reason to pick it up again but so far no luck

Pillsbury13967d ago

Thanks to ps plus I have so many games to catch up on: fez I haven't played and I want to start metrico.

Duke193967d ago

Fair enough, havent really looked at the PS Store on Vita. PS+ has been keeping me mostly busy on PS3, PS4 is getting there

Nice writing, for a game I honestly wasn't aware, until now.

I will check this out at release!

kaiserfranz3933d ago

I'm a sucker for Norse mythology. Will be checking this for sure.

Imp0ssibl33933d ago

How did this slip past my radar? Might have to give it a closer look...

Alexious3933d ago

There's very little information about it, and it was only announced in June. Could be a surprise

LavaLampGoo3932d ago

It was a game id heard nothing from, but think it could get quite a cult game exploring all the possibilities...
