A newly announced first-person shooter is looking to bring competitive multiplayer back to the glory days, and the first trailer is promising.
Despite the unfortunate name (which, to be fair, does fit with the '90s shooter theme), Toxikk looks like a refreshing throwback for Quake and Unreal Tournament fans.

TOXIKK is an early access first person arena shooter with a late-90s to early 2000s inflection. Being both developed and published by Reakktor Studios, the game seeks to bring old-school mechanics and modern gaming technologies together in order to bring about a rebirth of a more traditional style of shooter.
I can see this really appealing to the Quake and Unreal Tournament fans.
I’d almost go as far as saying that this is the game a lot of those fans asked for back when there were no CoD’s or Battlefields - Writes Ferris Hall.
