New Shooter Wants To Be The Anti-Call of Duty

Kotaku: It's strange to live in a time where people can make a feature list out of things their game doesn't have, but here we are. Exceedingly Unreal-Tournament-esque shooter Toxikk touts no leveling, no regenerating health, no perks, no cover systems, no classes, no configurable weapons, and no iron sight aiming. And yet, it actually looks quite good.

Yay for Unreal Tournament style gameplay! That's what I want from shooters. Getting tired of all these military/realistic FPS games.

Game could be nice, but I really think those glowy/shiny/bloomy effects are extremely annoying

Also I'm having doubts about the whole "our game is so much better than that COD crap" approach. It didn't really work well for BulletStorm and it just ended up sounding arrogant.

Doom 4 is apparently going back to its roots and made a strong positive impression on the press at its reveal. Also UT5 will be developed with the community, which is really cool. I'll put my money on those 2 games instead

If I want to play Unreal/Quake, I just go play Unreal/Quake.

Also I never had problem with reloading, as it adds just enough depth to the game where you have to make simple choices when to shoot, what weapon to use, also it promotes people to use good movement and character positioning due to bean defenseless while reloading. Definitely not a bullshit mechanics, or mechanics that only belongs in "realistic" shooters.

since its free to play. ill try it out

RedDeadLB1930d ago

It's not free to play, thankfully. No game is ever free.

FamilyGuy1930d ago

It specifically says "No free-to-play", how do you get that backwards?

I would've called it the bizarro COD.
