Euro Truck Simulator 2 Gets Oculus Rift DK2 Support

The Rift Arcade - It's time to get trucking, because finally, Euro Truck Simulator 2 has been updated for the DK2.

There's a reason why we're excited about this release, because while Euro Truck Simulator 2 worked just fine on the DK1, the headsets low-resolution screen made it impossible to read in-game text, see the satellite navigation or predict up-coming turns in the road. Now, the team at SCS Software has managed to implement support for the Oculus Rift DK2.

Okay, so it's not perfect just yet, it only works in desktop-extended mode, and it's only once you're sat in the drivers seat that head-tracking kicks in, but once it does it's worth all the hassle, because Euro Truck Simulator 2 is finally legitible in VR. It's now easy to see the speedometer, read the sat-nav or spot an on-coming car in the wing mirror; and because of the positional-tracking feature of the DK2, it's now possible to lean forward to look out of the window, peer over the steering wheel at the road ahead.

Euro Truck Simulator 2, The Most Boringly Fun Game In Existence

Recently some members of our Discord have been getting into Euro Truck Simulator 2 which despite having over 200+ hours in the game, I hadn't played since I was in my first year of College around 3 years ago. With this rise in interest, I decided to reinstall the game again, grab the latest Iberia and Road to The Black Sea DLC and hit the road. ETS 2: Boring on Paper SCS Software's Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a straightforward concept as any simulator game is. Your goal is to drive your truck delivering various things from pallets, petrol, grains,

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7348d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal349d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal349d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.
