Assassin’s Creed Has Become Just Another Dumb Pop Song

2007. Ubisoft release a game that is considered by man to be the one that ushers in the next-generation of gaming. It’s so fresh and exciting that people latch onto it immediately, this is a series to watch. The story of Assassin’s Creed is well-documented. I shan’t pull a Desmond and bore you to death. Instead let’s run through some cliff notes. In the beginning it was filled with promise, on the second day Ubisoft said “let it be amazing” and it was thus. On the third and fourth days the Ubisoft sort of just got lost and walked in circles. On the fifth day there was Assassin’s Creed III and that’s all we shall say of that. On the sixth day the omnipotent Ubisoft lost its shit and died of dehydration on a desert isle and on the seventh day God was too lazy to make women so he rested and counted his money.

What happened to this series over the past seven years?

What happened? It's become a milk factory for Ubisoft. The content's still there and enjoyable but the story has directly gone to sh*tter. Unity looks promising but I can't get excited for any AC game anymore. They have been around too fast too much.

The problem with this franchise doesn't lie in the story (since when games are any good in that matter, anyway?), as much as an unrefinement of singular aspects.

lol wut

I bought every assasin dc creed to date but it seems unity is the first one I'm skipping
They keep milking the franchise with hardly any upgrades besides black flags

Flipgeneral1963d ago

It's always been a pop song..

Same mechanics in every God damn game. Hey, if I climb a tower, do you think there will be a haystack for me to jump down to?

What? F**k innovation when we can use the same stuff and get paiddddd $$$$$$

Assassins creed 1 and 2 were good, then it got very boring, I really liked the new black flag was most fun I had in an assassins creed game for a long time. The new one though seems like going back to boring territory it just doesn't get me excited like black flag did.

Played number one on release. Hated it so much it put me off the series. Around the time 3 came out, I went straight to the second and loved it

Weird. Black flag was one of the best games last year.

Goro1963d ago

Surprisingly, Black Flag was my GOTY 2013 so i have high hopes for Unity.

Stop, just Stop it... Black Flags story was unengaging, the combat system was god awful.. Buggiest Assassins Creed Ever.. The Naval System was the highlight of the game...

Lets just all get Shadow of Mordor an leave assassins creed to die.

KonsoruMasuta1963d ago

Black Flags had it's issues but it was far from a bad game.

The issues you listed are problems in all Assassin's Creed games. I never found the story or combat in any of the games to be engaging, even in the first couple of games.

What I loved was trailing enemies, surprise kills from rooftops, and experimenting with the multiple gadgets. Black Flags had all that plus good naval combat.

That's were your wrong... Assassins Creed 2 was a Masterpiece.. the combat system was fluent an effective.. Assassins Creed 2 was one if not the best story Ubisoft has created... and trust me AC2 was no where near as bugged as Black flag.. I could spend telling you why black flag was a disgrace but I wont. just remember ezio was the only protagonist in the series to get a continuation of his amazing story..

Silly Mammo1963d ago

It was buggy? I hardly came across any bugs. Now AC3. Thats a whole other story.
