Ubisoft Introduces Elise in a new Assassin’s Creed Unity Arno Trailer

Today Ubisoft is releasing a new CGI trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity that shows Arno racing against time and through a dense and chaotic central Paris in order to prevent the beheading of Elise, a character central to Assassin’s Creed Unity’s story. As an independent young noblewoman, Elise is determined to secure her place in the Templar dynasty amidst the chaos of the French Revolution. Her quest leads her to cross paths with Arno and establish an unlikely bond with him.

A lot of ppl called for this, so i think Elise is a win. But that trailer, damn awesome.

I don't think so. When you add an important character in a game that could influence the story, you prepare this way before. The game was in devellopment for more than 36 months, now there's 4 months left. No they wont spend that time adding a female character, they will instead do game polishing and game testing. This was planned way before people started complaining.

Especially when there is a clear romantic link between the Templar and Assassin. Even if they were going for a gay relationship originally there would be too much to change from when the backlash happened. This was planned from the beginning

Wait, theres females in a ubisoft title? But I thought they were all misogynistic nazis and each game was led by strong male archetypes and prostituted women, GASP SHOCK HORROR!! -_- (slight stab at the recent internet uproar over not having a female avatar you'll never see yourself being since you are always arno... smh)

A little less cynical now and a little more on topic, looking forward to this, after AC2 I kinda went off the franchise when they turned the second game in to a trilogy instead of just finished the damn AC trilogy they'd already started.

Black Flag brought the series back for me, it was such a departure they couldve easily just called it "Awesome pirate simulator: the game" and I wouldve been happy, and the recent e3 playthrough just ignited the rekindled flame, since the very first AC game me and my friends have been BEGGING for some co-op ass action!

Erm, Elise was not added due to the recent backlash, she is a character integral to the plot meaning she's been in the title since pre-production work began on the plot. Of course, I can see people misunderstanding all of this, and I can also see people making connections where there are none. Its human behaviour, apparently.

*EDIT* Just felt liek pointing out the fact Elise is a red head. God damn, gonna fall in love so hard. Made my day. <3 Red Heads.

Let's not forget the backlash wasn't about no female protagonist nor the fact there is no female character (there is always is some ). It was the co-op mode that had no female option that was the big and reasonable issue (which came with a rubbish response from ubisoft).

christian hour1964d ago (Edited 1964d ago )

I admit the failure to include a female avatar for the other arno's you're playing with was an oversight on their part, and considering there were female assassins you can recruit in previous games (brotherhood etc) it does seem very odd they'd overlook it, but the way the backlash was online you'd swear ubisoft had gone out of their way to ensure a female avatar wasn't included.

But from a development side of things look at it this way, everyone playing the game will be arno on their screen. So in order for there to not be any wierd inconsistencies with character models while jumping, climbing fighting etc, every avatar will have to have the same build and appearance as Arno for it all to match up. They could add women with the same physical build as arno but knowing the internet that would probably cause more problems and backlash of its own.

I wish I could investigate a mind so simple that it believes that an integral character with a figurine could be added in a month, at the end of a 3 year development cycle for a project this size. Not just that people started complaining about female representation before knowing any details of the story or its characters at all. You seriously believed every character in the game was going to be male even though all other Assassin's Creed games had multiple females as a part of the main cast? Fascinating.

I even forgot the fact that it was called Unity before and after the complaints and you also must think that was just dumb luck with the title, not something planned and written years ago.

SaveFerris1964d ago

I wish the game looked like the live-action segments of the trailer.

christian hour1964d ago

What live-action segments? It was all CG :-/

SaveFerris1964d ago

B-but it looked so real. Guess I need my eyes tested.

christian hour1964d ago

DONT DO IT! I wish I could see CG as real life. You have a GIFT! Use it to your advantage, just think how amazing the new avengers movie will look for you! I envy your eyes, sir :( I wish I was joking!

SaveFerris1964d ago

I wish I were joking too.
I actually thought some of the parkour was live-action with the climbing and fight scenes in cgi.

Something about WOODKID and Assassin's Creed. It. Just. Works. Let's see a video with the WOODKID song, Conquest of Spaces. Dirty trailer Ubi, dirty.

women is templar/love interest
struggle between the love of the girl/hate of the templars

iamnsuperman1964d ago (Edited 1964d ago )

A unity may happen (see what they did there). It has to happen at some point considering who the baddy really is

Edit: @saveferris
No doubt. Storyline are fairly predictable in a lot of big titles since they follow the same trope

SaveFerris1964d ago

Someone may end up being betrayed, then perhaps a redemption before the climax.

christian hour1964d ago

Some friends becoming enemies? Enemies becoming friends? Maybe they'll come out of the experience much stronger characters... who knowS? Who knows? Ah, tropes , can't live with em, can't write without em :D

skulz71964d ago

That is one epic trailer. Finally we are going to see the two factions unite! God Assassins Creed CGI trailers give me thrills. I am really looking forward to this one. Paris and its atmosphere is breathtaking.

bixxel1963d ago

The two factions didn't actually Unite.Arno just wants to 'save' that person from the Templars.
