I will not have the time for so many titles, the JRPG collection on 360 just keeps growing and I just keep pinching myself to wake up!

Cry On, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales, Spectral Force 3, Blue Dragon 2, and now Star Ocean 4! And I've still got to play Fallout 3, Fable 2 and Too Human! *multiple expletives related to there not being enough hours in the day to play*...

Have you seen a word "SO4" and "EXCLUSIVE on x360", just like "FFXIII" is "ONLY for PS3" ???

Then it`s just like Tales of Vesperia, the game will be first released on x360, but you WON`T find anywhere, that ToV will be x360 ONLY game.

saying at the begining of the year that SO4 was coming to 360 and I got something like 20 disagrees and a whole lot insults.

It was pretty obvious to non-fanboy eyes that it was coming to 360.

I mean give me ONE reason for Square Enix to refuse to say that its a PS3 exclusive ? Why would a dev REFUSE to say that a game is a PS3 exclusive ?

its a 360 exclusive just deal with it the 360 will alwys have better quality game and more of them to play ,sony has failed this generation just let go stop cluthing at straws there is no way the ps3 will survive this on slaught the ps3 does not sell enough software not to mention sony game studios has not made a profit on the ps3 while mgs has with the xvox 360 so they cant really use money of a failing system to secure great exc;lusive also not to mention the hardware on the ps3 which dont work well in sync , the cell was a mistake no major comoute manufacturer has bought the cell from sony and its partners peopel alays forgo the cell has only 1 core with 7spu while most power pc use quad core and the 360 has 3 core sont fanboys give up and get a well earned rest buy gettig a 360 and playing some great games for 1s.

Woah, well done MS Japan!

You've gotten your own Tales game series by the looks of it, 'Tales of Versperia', much like the Wii has Symphonia.

You've got the likes of Cry On coming up, by the amazing Sakaguchi and it Lost Odyssey is anything to go by then that will be win!

Add the likes of Infinite Undiscovery to that list.

Now you've gotten Star Ocean 4 under your belt.

Then you've hit it with Last Remnant, by SquareEnix as a Timed Exclusive.

Can't give them more than enough praise, even if Japan doesn't because even if they don't want all this good stuff, I do ;)

The 360 was the worst choice?

After today, even if these titles are not exclusive, the 360 doesn't seem like a bad choice at all.

And why is my PS3 still continuing to wait for those inevitable AAA games?

And now if I only owned the PS3, I would also have to wait for these games too? Since they are TIMED exclusives.

If MGS4 was for the 360, which it will never be, it would have loading times up to 35 seconds. And every 4 minutes, you have to wait for loading times.

PS. Star Ocean 4 is multiplatform. We all knew this from the start. Best scenario was for it to be exclusive for the PS3. But apparently its multi platform.

Its a good move and besides if square enix were to put kingdom hearts or final fantasy as an exclusive for 360 it wouldve bombed. This is why I knew star ocean 4 made more sense. But I have a feeling its only time exclusive unless the 360 has big sales for star ocean 4 but I doubt it since Lost Odyssey didnt sell so well.

Wow, this is another nail in Sony's coffin. The system that was home to 97% of all rpgs is now reduced to 0% RPGs. what happened? Almost 2 years out and the ps3 hasn't had 1 rpg hit the system Folklore, maybe and That's really pushing it guys.

Sony should've paid for exclusives to Suikoden & Final Fantasy this time out. Atleast give us Something internally. Wild Arms, Alundra, Legend of Legia, Legend of Dragoon, Dark cloud all are Sony owned IP but where are they? Where is Sony's answer to this?

Are they just gonna sit back and let Japan go xbox 360 green too? Rpgs sell systems and right now Sony isn't selling anything.

When last years TGS was setting up the screen display someone caught coming to Playstation 3 on the sign before it was shut off.Also why put all your games on PS1,2,then remake them for PSP just to put Star Ocean 4 The Last Hope the beginning of the story on Xbox 360. They've already expressed interest in how Sony moves, look at the Star Ocean remakes.

Whatever this is all trivial, multiplat will be confirmed at e3 and this will disappear from n4g within 48 when the FLOOD of MGS4 stuff hits.

I'm glad i own both consoles, but tbh i wanted this to be a ps3 exclusive. I played mass effect on 360 and liked the idea of another space exploration game coming out on a system and could take advantage of the hard drive n blu ray space. I now mass effect was big n all, but still there were loading screens all over the place. Lol those infamous elevators, didnt bother me too much tbh.
I'm still pretty new to "next-gen" and maybe i've listened to too much rhetoric, but do any of you think the hd drive benefit expectation was just bull? and it'll be real good anyway?

THey did say that the game would be exclusive to what ever platform it was announced on, and i s'pose "business is business". I just thought it'd DEFINITELY be a ps3 exclusive.

Got to give MS credit to for continuing to try and work its way on the market in Japan.

With the all good news today what if Japan still doesn't take and worldwide this titles don't sell, then what.

I don't know if Star Ocean 4 will be exclusive or not since the producer hasn't confirmed it yet and it wouldn't make sense to announce this for the PS3 in a MS conference.

It's going to be interesting will these titles start to hit for the 360 and if people buy it or not, these titles really need to sell well this time.

Wow, I can't imagine what the japanese gamers feel about this, seeing as both tri-Ace and Square Enix are japanese companies, and Star Ocean a very popular game over there.

Hopefully it'll come to the PS3 too, after Sony has "re-evaluated" their stance regarding paying for exclusives. I'm quite sure MS handed over some money in this case :)

Both versions are amongst the worst looking games on their respective platforms. The people who enjoyed this title on the 360 or were looking forward to the PS3 version likely don't care about the graphics anyways.

I saw the friggin' 1080p HD trailer on my PS3 and it looks nothing like this. These are gimped ass scans just to piss the fanboys. I don't know if the PS3 will turn out better in the end. But everything I have seen is far better than the 360 version. So this website can eat one.

Anyways, it was an ok game on the 360. I really had a hard time listening to the voice/character who you spoke with when trying to create a new invention.

All other things aside, I do notice the hair/eye color stand out on PS3 version but missing hair shadow on face that is shown on 360's. Looks almost identical, besides some strange blur on ps3 version on some of the pics.

But that won't stop the PS3s year old port from dwarfing the current sales of the 360 version. Playstation has the jrpg fanbase and hopefully the sales of this year old port will remind the developers of that so the PS3 gets to be the lead platform from here on out.

I saw the trailer off PSN and it definitely looks good enough to me. I've already pre-ordered and I'm sure many others have too.

Either way... the main character, Edge, still looks like he has no testicles. I'm still buying it though cuz i got addicted to Star Ocean. It's great that most dialogue will be voiced and they added an insane amount of content compared to last years version.

This is a lame port. They let it become blurry instead of using AA properly.

Jack's links show not much difference between the two games besides better lighting on the PS3 version. The 360 version seems a little too bright. Not really anything that really matters. But extra content is what does matter.

This was pretty much what i expected when i found out that there are no plans to improve on the sub-HD resolutions.

Isn't it true that the Xbox 360 version of the game had 3d rendered character portaits not the traditional 2D anime? I was led to believe that the 2d anime portaits were exclusive to the PS3 international version.

The PS3 version does look alot blurrier, but the PS3 version lighting is far superior. The rain forest comparison shows how much better it is in that respect... both sharpness for 360 and realistic lighting for PS3

starocean was 520p on 360 it was on of the lowest resolution games on the 360, it is upcscaled to 720p.

Both the versions are native 520p and upscaled, get your facts right.

"PS3 set to full range of HDMI, as for 360 image quality of HDMI is set to the maximum."
Meaning the PS3 will go to 720p as all resolutions are checked and 1080p is not being forced, like it is on the 360.
The game in it's native resolution on each respective console runs at a higher resolution on the PS3.

Star Ocean was never about graphics, story, plot progression, memorable characters but the combat. I played SO1 and SO2 and all i wanted to do is kill enemies, get a lot of money for armor and weapons and healing items, and kill bosses.

It was considerably less graphics on the PS3 version from a technical standpoint, but it looked better than the 360 version because of the PS3's hardware.

Besides, I'm kinda skeptical about this site: I just heard of it, (I think it's a website, but I thought it was a site provider, so what's up with that?) and the translator is broken now, so I can't see the site.

360: 1248 x 702 2 x AA in field. 936 x 512 no AA battle

PS3: 1024 x 720 2 X AA in field. 930 x 512 2 x AA battle. PS3's AA method also seems to be a rather dodgy implementation of quincunx, because the textures are blurred wholesale. Ouch. Might as well have not of bothered and preserved resolution.

Neither version is exactly a technical showpiece, and im still shocked how they are barely above SD (e.g wii 720 x 480p) in battle scenes. Pathetic for so called HD gaming

This is what you get when you build a game badly for 360 in the first place, and then port it sloppily onto PS3. OMFG its the worse scenario anyone could imagine.

Blaming the 360 for any perceived lack of quality or content in multi-platform JRPGs is ignorant because PS3 exclusive RPGs like White Knight Chronicles and Folklore don't have any more content or quality than the RPGs on the 360.

Several JRPGs on the 360 have done better than White Knight Chronicles, so you are talking out your 'you know what'.

This comparaison was made by a japanese site /blog whatever ..
And the 2d models exist on 360 on the japanese version only ..
so if he did a comparaison it's fairly reasonnable he used ( according to his pics ) both japanese versions ..and that would explain the 2d avatars since they are in both versions ..

The 3d avatars are in the disgusting us 360 version of the game ( the one with the horrible english voices !)

One this site is list as Microsoft, two SE has said they fix the problems that are in the 360 one.

Keep in mind, the only way to tell if it looks better or not, it by playing both of the games yourself back to back.

I'm betting its going to look better mostly because SE knows that PS3 sells their games well Vs 360. 360 will never sell anything higher then its FPS games.

The Last Hope: International Version
The PS3 version of Star Ocean 4, while coming out a year after its 360 counterpart, at least brings a few highly desirable additions. For one, you can listen to all the game's dialogue in Japanese -- a feature more games should include (It even made me want to play through the game without the voiceacting turned off completely!). And you can swap the game's menus to a brighter, more anime-inspired look. If, like me, you thought the 360's 3D character portraits looked out of place, it's nice to switch over to the original Japanese art.

Minor tweaks to the battle system didn't make a huge difference in my impression of the combat, which is still fun if a bit grindy and button mashy. And visually, there's practically no difference at all between the two games. It might not be a reason to sink in another 40 hours if you've already played through it on 360, but if you held off on getting the game last year, your patience has definitely paid off. The PS3 International version of Star Ocean 4 is undeniably the superior game.

Both pictures have a huge difference, but as you can see the Charakter Artwork at the bottom left is in a Anime-Style. The Xbox Version only had CG Charakters there and the Anime Art is PS3 exklusive. So both pictures are definatly from the PS3 Version.

Still getting a copy of the game. I'm not playing this for the graphics but for the combat system and story. I didn't buy it for the 360 because of the horrible dubs, but now I have no excuse since the game comes with Japanese voices aka the superior voice acting. I don't mind the extra stuff as well.

same here ive gotten all rpg's regardless of reviews their all fun to play honestly what killed me for the 360 version of star ocean was the voice acting wow i wouldnt be surprised people stopped playing it just cause of the voice acting. its as bad as scratching a chalk board

Holy god of the underground, why do people scream about the graphics all the time?
If graphics are the most important thing with a game you`re not a true gamer.
For the love of god shut up with these comparisons.
BECAUSE THIS IS A RPG, NOT HEAVY RAIN or a lousy western wannabe rpg`s.

I only bought it on ps3 because i have all the other star oceans, but man, these japanese devs are really horrible now a days. I mean this goes for ANY DEVELOPER who can't ratchet out native 720p.

Give me a break. All of you Devs! Meet the Minimum standards for HD. Why do we all have Big TVs? Not to play Wii games, that is for sure.\

Very very disappointed. I hope these shots look worse then it actually is.

it's an JRPG, and if you haven't played it on the 360 then get it on the ps3, simple? problem solved...

but one thing is for damn sure, i AM NOT doing those freaking battle trophies over i don't care what extra toon they add, they can add an elf chick with bigger breast and I still aint doing that shyt over. Point final!
