Radial-G Dev: 'VR is here to stay this time'

VRFocus - It’s no secret that virtual reality (VR) has made a run at the consumer market before. Some companies were hoping to bring the technology to the masses long before Palmer Luckey founded Oculus VR. But these attempts were ultimately ill-fated. Surely both Oculus VR with its Oculus Rift VR headset and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) with its Project Morpheus headset run the risk of failing as these previous attempts have?

VR is the direction that we're heading gamers, be with the times!

I hope so, early attempts were far too basic to immerse people in VR but computing has come a long way, VR may finally take root, it certainly has potential for all sorts of things not just gaming.

VR is the future and I am happy to being able to experience it. I recon it will be the start of the golden age of gaming and VR experiences.

We as gamers and tech fans are in for a extremely exciting time ahead.

That's convincing...

Mobile is the future thus if VR doesn't work for mobile, which it won't, VR has no tangible future outside of a niche group of people.

Something tells me you haven't heard of the Durovis Dive, GameFace, Altergaze etc.

I'm not convinced.

Motion gaming was supposed to be the future, but that didn't work out so well.

3D TV was supposed to be the future, but people don't like wearing special glasses.

So with VR you've combined motion gaming with special glasses/headgear. And this is going to take off???

Maybe it will, but my gut says it will probably just be another fad.

Pandamobile3995d ago

My gut says you haven't tried it yet.

Experiencing good VR is not something you can simply put into words. I've seen just about every amazing gaming technology that is publicly available, but when I strapped on a Rift for the first time, all I could say was "wow". And this was the 720p DK1 model too. If Oculus and Sony are smart about it, they'll have Rifts and Morpheus' for the public to demo at every electronics store across North America and Europe by the year's end.

You can't tell someone that this is the future, you have to show them.

Lol, maybe I'm becoming an old fart, but excessive violence in VR seems to bother me more than in flat games. Feels more visceral when you're looking a person in the eyes before mutilating them.

By no means am I trying to be a prude and saying these games shouldn't exist. I just play them more sparingly, need more breaks. I need some beautiful, refreshing & relaxing VR experiences too to balance them out so I don't feel so heavy.

I’m an old fart too. I couldn’t believe how violent saints and sinners was.

IMO, there's two that are better than all these (except maybe Beat Saber), Thrill of the Fight and AUDICA.
