Lesley Phord-Toy, who is a producer on Assassin's Creed Unity, talked with Examiner.com about whether or not there will be any naval gameplay in Assassin's Creed Unity, plus how the game's parkour system has evolved.
I thought Assassins Creed: Black Flag had more ocean gameplay then it did having ground gameplay. This one definitely looks promising since it's the first to be a next gen game and sticks to more of ground gameplay.
I really felt like the ship and naval gameplay took assassins creed franchise off track. It really turned me off, ship upgrades...riding a horse and telling people when to shoot like a war commander... Tower style mini games...really has NOTHING to do with assassinating anyone. It turned me off from the game. They should have consintrated on more ways to assassinate and making more Actual assassin missions. So I'm happy to hear they are getting back to the root of the game...they got totally side tracked and turned an assassin into a regular agile killer with a ship.
I agree but I would have liked it if Ubi could have made the ship more incorporated into the world. When I came up to loot the storehouses, I so wished I could fire the cannons and cause havoc. Run in, get caught and have then ring the bell, run back to the ship and wipe the enemies out with a volley of fire. But sadly the game wouldn't allow that. But I agree in that the naval almost took on too much like the dive bell stuff too.
I co-sign your thoughts,I bought AC:BF-4 I played about 3 hrs of it & then traded it in,it was a turn off.
If you have said that the pirate naval gameplay made the game very un-assassin like then I would agree with you. But it was in no way bad. The opposite. It was very fun. I personally found the side missions of raiding strongholds, or sneaking through plantations very fun. As well as attacking navy ships. But I am happy that AC: Unity is doing away with naval gameplay and sticking to what's core to the AC series: Urban assassination.
But does it have navel gameplay? The Assassin's Creed series would benefit from more navel gameplay. Though I don't know what that might entail.
I know I'm in the minority, but I found the naval gamplay and sailing to be boring as hell. I for one welcome the return to the ground combat.
Man I can't wait to play this game... It's going to be so good. I always feel like the AC gameplay gets kinda boring but then as soon as I get the game all those thoughts go out thw window and I'm enjoying myself again.
I really liked the naval gameplay on Black Flag. On AC3, not so much. That said, it was enough IMHO. I don't want the AC series to turn into a naval combat series. I'd rather see they add something else that we've never seen before in the AC series.
Hated naval combat in AC3, in Black Flag it was much better, but I've had enough of that now. I must say though it was the best pirate game ive ever played, and if they expanded on it they could probably make a successful pirate franchise. Just keep it out of AC in future, IMO.
I'm glad they're making this one all about land, but I hope naval gameplay comes back at some point. I loved that in Black Flag.
Finally. Less sailing, more actual, you know, gaming.
Whilst AC 4 was absolutely incredible, I am happy they are going back to the core roots of Assassins Creed. I am happy they are drawing similarities with AC 1 which was IMO the most assassiny game. Dont get me wrong, AC 2 was incredible as well, I just felt AC 1 was the assassin simulator. I am glad AC Unity seems to be going back to that social stealth aspect of the game.
really like the naval gameplay in AC3 when they didnt force you all the time to use it. it was fun on missions and small bits, isnt THAT fun to just sail around the map. rather ahve better movement in the ground and new mechanics on foot like new way to hide (like the split wall stand from Splinter Cell or something)
Now I'm interested, knowing the ship part of the game was a total turn off for me.
Thank God. I mean I likec the naval combat, but it left me craving the traditional Assassins Creed. Imagine how big Paris must be. At least bigger than Watch Dogs Chicago.
Obviously bigger than Chicago. It's bigger than the whole landmass of AC BF!!
Glad they got rid of it.
Thank god, I hated AC4 because of the constant ship gameplay
Gameplay wise, Black Flag was the best AC games I've ever played imo. It was so good it was too good to be an AC game. I hope they make a pirate game because Ubisoft stumbled on something really special with Black Flag.
im with you it was a good game i liked the naval game play. .im hoping ac comet will be a spinoff
I'm glad we get to return to the roots.
