Destiny shows that female characters still get male attention

Male gamers are still flocking around female characters in MMO style games despite the fact that it's common knowledge that a lot of male gamers play as female avatars.

I don't have a problem playing as a female character in fact i just bought remember me and i have other games with female lead.So this whole gender issue is blown out of proportion for nothing.

The only one i actually mind is Link i don't want him to be change in a female.They could just introduce a new female to the series so people can have an option to play as link or the new female character.

Each to their own. Still, I find it hard to believe that people don't find playing one sex at least 0.000000001 points better than the other, where for most people the prevailing choice is a character of their own gender.

That's not to say that the gender of the PC would stop most people buying a game (certainly not myself), but it would impact a purchasing decision, especially where two options are otherwise neck and neck.

My issue is that you can't play as a female character in an MMO unless you want to get hit on. Or that there's often "benefit" aside from looking at a female character, getting a few different animations, and pulling the sex change joke on other MMO players.

There's no need for that (in the case of Link).

The hero of time (Link) is supposed to reincarnate to save the land so all the Links from the different games have been different and re-introduced in each new game (except in the case of some sequels)

Why can't Link reincarnate in a female lead? It's completely plausible.

Why do you think people were all up in arms about Donte - new DMC? If you want to try new things (change the character to a female, make it a completely different game, etc), do a spin off or a side character or side quests.

You really don't get that in pretty much all Zeldas, Link is a different character with different backstories, friends, worlds, but with the same goal?

You can say that each zelda is a spin off because they are not related to the last one, they start from scratch everytime not taking into account the last one they created (with just a few exceptions)

Glad to woman characters becoming more relevant. But on an off note, don't use lack of female characters as excuses to attack a company. It's petty.

It's funny cause the male character models look weird and almost like transvestites (just the face). I tried to create my character, but none of the hair styles made it look decent. That's like the only complain I have with the game.

I usually play as a female because in third person they always seem to take up less screen space

I don't know about Destiny but I guess since its a first person shooter there's a better chance that female avatars are female gamers since the main reason male gamers choose female avatars does not apply

I went with the female in Mass effect because it would make a nice change in story to all the amle characters I've played.
Although it would have been nice if there were some story elements that would change depending on the sex you select.
In the same way that the story changed when you selected what race you were in the first Dragon Age.
