Bart Robson reports:
''Right off the bat, it's clear that High Moon Studios tried their best to match the atmosphere from the movies. The cutscenes embody the same documentary-style camcorder look that the films used, and the music is lifted directly from them as well. It's a little off-putting that this Bourne adventure comes sans Matt Damon, considering how every other element of the films made it into the game. However, the stand-in does an admirable job - the character looks the part, and the voice actor doesn't try to imitate Damon, opting for a different but perfectly acceptable tone. Once fans have gotten used to the new Bourne, the rest becomes entirely familiar. Just like the agent on the silver screen, Conspiracy's Jason Bourne is a fast and deadly weapon. The game plays like a combination of Gears of War and Streets of Rage. While that may seem like a bizarre mixture, it certainly works, and the transitions between shooting and fighting keep the game fresh and exciting all the way through. There is a car chase scene which unfortunately doesn't live up to the other two gameplay styles, but thankfully, it's relatively short and nonetheless very exciting the first time through.
The game goes a bit beyond the films, however. Jason Bourne has passports and aliases from all around the globe, and players get the chance to play some of these missions in flashbacks. These levels, taking part during Bourne's military-espionage days, are firearm heavy, and filled with head-on action scenes featuring Bourne running towards danger. This is a great contrast to the "present day" gameplay, which focuses on hand-to-hand combat during the time period where Bourne tries to avoid killing most of his opponents, and is running away from the government. This creates a decidedly cat and mouse progression of gameplay; one level you are the aggressor, and in the next, a victim. The strongest portions of the game are the hand-to-hand heavy levels, simply because they feel the most like scenes from the films. The combat engine is simple: by mixing light and heavy attacks, Bourne can perform combos on enemies and build up his adrenaline. With enough adrenaline, players can perform literally hundreds of finishing moves on foes. Every part of the environment is fair game for a unique set of animations, each one as brutal and exhilarating as the next.''
TGC: There was a time when games based on movies were actually pretty good, and The Bourne Conspiracy stands out as one of the better attempts.
Solid movie licensed game indeed. Its unfortunately another High Moon Studios release (i.e. Transformers & Deadpool) with little hopes of a re-release or remaster happening anytime soon, due to expiring license.
As the world reels from the shockwaves of the seismic news that Microsoft is acquiring the proverbial swamp of the video-game landscape, Activision Blizzard King, it only seems natural that our minds should now shift towards what the fallout will be for presumably years if not decades to come.
Another Prototype would be awesome.
As for Singularity, I don't necessarily need a sequel, I just want to see Raven be able to flex their creative muscle again; not just be relegated to assisting with CoD. A lot of the old guard is still with the company.
That's part of what I'm hoping to see come from this acquisition. Revive teams like Vicarious Visions and Ravem to actually allow them to work on their own new projects again.
I'd like to see Activision get the Transformers license again and continue the War and Fall of Cybertron games. the movie games were crap and the game that combined both movie and Fall and War of Cybertron sucked a new Prototype would also be good as well.
Re-imagining of River Raid and the original adventurer Pitfall. Oh Zork is also a great game.

Castlevania Lecarde Chronicles 2

Just because it's an independent fan-made game doesn't mean it's not the greatest Castlevania title in over a decade. This masterpiece truly deserves to be played, but goes unnoticed 😔
Definitely some overlooked gems there. Shadows of the Damned was one of my top five favorite games from the last generation. Highly recommended just for the humor!
Gurumin A Monsterous Adventure. To this day I love that game. Like a light hearted more platformer than combat version of Threads of Fate. I don't know a single soul outside me and my brother that knows the game. sad because it's one of my favourite PSP games I played even on Vita alot. Now I play the PC version a bit lol
I have Dante's Inferno, but I've never paid any of the others. Too few people have played Ico. Still one of my favorite games. As for a game that no one seems to have heard of but me... Undergarden is great. Hard to describe. Watch a vid and you'll see.
