A new Crackdown had been rumoured ever since one
of its distinctive agility orbs was spotted on-stage at
the Xbox One console reveal in May last year. It
wasn't until just a few weeks ago that Microsoft
confirmed the news with a CG taster trailer at its E3
media briefing - in which three agents co-ordinated
their attacks to apprehend a Los Muertos kingpin.
This display of collaboration wasn't just for show,
Microsoft has confirmed. "Crackdown was on of the
first drop-in, drop-out co-op games, but we're going
more towards 'there's just the game,'" the publisher's
creative director Ken Lobb told OXM at E3. "You're
playing the game, it's single, it's co-op, it's a mash-up,"
he continued. "Choose at will in the game, instead of
hiding behind menus and loads and lobbies. Just make the
gameplay as if it's one big thing."
Darren writes: "Despite much moaning and groaning, Xbox has had some smashing console exclusive games during its four generation lifespan. Crackdown was one such game, released in the early years of the Xbox 360"
Still one of my all time favorite games. It hurt to see what happened to Crackdown 3 😔
Delays, technical problems and walkouts over money and crunch could have killed Rare's spiritual sequel to GoldenEye. 20 years later, Perfect Dark's creators reveal the true, messy story of how it was saved.
Lived in the shadows of Golden Eye and Duke Nukem64 if you ask me. I don’t personally care for a new game in the Perfect Dark series either, at least not over the prospect of a new IP from a new premium development team. I hope MS doesn’t go this route, but we all know they sure do love their multiplayer-shooter games, so this would come as an unwelcome non-surprise to me if so...
"I put in 6000 hours overtime. I was really low down on the overtime list." - Holy scheisse! Glad to read they were at least paid well.
Gamerheadquarters; "With the jump in power from the Xbox Series X all Xbox 360 and Original Xbox titles that are backwards compatible should be enhanced as soon as they’re available."
They’ve been working the past few years and have become proficient in that department so I definitely think they are capable of such a feat. Their BC through emulation that can natively upscale blows my mind and gives them an advantage over competitors using multiple hardware settings which requires higher clock speeds and produces more heat.
I caught Chaos Theory on sale and was actually blown away by how it scaled on the One X.
I imagine that they'll carry over the functionality of the X regarding playing previous gen games to the series X.
They better have good support for backwards compatibly.... Since they have no 1st pay games LMAO 😂
And xbox one games, there are many underperformed 3rd party games that needs frames boost.
Oh boy:)
Hope the destruction in the game is akin to that tech demo Microsoft showed!
Glad there alot of decent looking co-op games coming out . Got a bit tired of the competitive side my reactions have taken a turn for the worst as ive gotten older. Look forward to seeing more of crackdown
I'm ready for this game, I hope they do like they said and go back to the original Crackdown style...not sure what they were thinking with the second one...the mechanics and everything still worked great, but they didn't need to introduce "the flood" to that game...just keep it gangsters and stuff. If everything for this game pans out the way it seem/I hope, then I see myself playing the crap out of this game.
This and a gears will make me buy an xbox
