Alien: Isolation hype train set to crash? Will it be a buggy/glitchy and repetitive experience?

SEGA's upcoming Alien game, seems to suffer from a contradict story line from the movies.

Alongside the story line, the gameplay seems to quickly become repetitive.

Creative Assembly is also known for recently launching a buggy/glitch game without any console games launched on their belt.

Is the game set to crash the hype train? Especially since it's that one game the Alien fan base is waiting for?

That part about the plot being contradictory is spot on. This games story creates so many plot holes, all because the writers were too lazy to come up with a proper, original story.

MrGunny943991d ago

Couldn't agree more with you Pork.

When I first read the headline of the plot of this game, it made me so confuse that I went to watch the movies again.

What is happening with the Alien franchise is that this "cannon" games are ripping the franchise apart.. And please don't make me even start how Colonial Marines connects with Prometheus..

Nitrowolf23991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

TBH
Is it really that bothersome? All they said was ripley daughter lived a happy life and never went to space. I dont really get the whole "omg plotholes cause they are changing a character who played a near nonexistance part in the films!!"
Yea i get the tape stuff is a bit poorly done, but ill wait and see. I do agree that it does seem lazy that they picked her for the sake of using a known name

Its not like the story after Aliens didnt take a nosedive when it came to contradicting story plots.

If its a good game, fans typically accept it, even if its not cannon. Like ACM is "cannon" but most people just forget about it just like ressurrection

@Nitro

The problem is that it comes off as the studio don't respect the source material if they are going to come up with stuff like that which go against what the film has said.

Why bring her daughter into it? It's different if in the films they said she went into space looking for her but they didn't. Oh and if the corporation was lying, like something the writers were planning then they would of brought it up in Alien 3 or Resurrection but they didn't, meaning it wasn't planned and they were telling the truth. That's how it happened, she lived a normal peaceful life on Earth, end of.

They got Sigourney Weaver to reprise her role as Ripley for a small mission, why not have her as the main character, telling an alternative story after Aliens. It would of been miles better since not many people were happy where Alien 3 went.

For me they went with Ripleys daughter and forced her into the plot for the sake of her being Ripleys daughter...the big hero of the Alien films.

What the hell has spurred this massive journalistic crusade to grind this game into the ground before it's even been released?

I remember reading a SINGLE account of a journalist being disappointed that he couldn't blow the aliens head off, and now all of a sudden we're getting an article or more every week talking about how this game is going to ruin the franchise.

God the internet pisses me off sometimes.

ShinMaster3991d ago

I'm gonna be disappointed if the gameplay turns out to be just like Outlast.

Not that Outlast was bad. It's just that I'd expect more from this one aside from a change of scenery.

didnt realize this game had enough hype for a train to begin with...

MysticStrummer3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

"That part about the plot being contradictory is spot on."

Not really. For a guy who claims to be a fan of the movies, the movie reviewer got some things wrong.

The company did know about the aliens before Aliens. They knew about them at the beginning of Alien. Ash the synthetic science officer was suddenly assigned to the Nostromo right before it left for earth with it's cargo, replacing their old science officer without explanation. Dallas and Ripley talk about how weird it is. The company knew the ship would pass close to that planet and Ash had orders to bring back the life form. When Dallas, Kane, and Lambert walk to the alien ship, you can tell by how Ash acts that he already has his secret orders.

The company probably honestly thought the marines in Aliens would be able to handle the situation on LV-426 and bring back some samples. They were a squad used to dealing with xenomorphs and they were well armed. They might have done at least a little better if it wasn't for their inexperienced commander, who didn't make damn sure the troops paid attention to Ripley's intel, ignored her himself, and panicked when things went to hell.

As for his other problems with the story, there very well could have been a separate flight recorder ejected just prior to the Nostromo's explosion that was recovered before Ripley's escape ship was found. Weyland-Yutani is a huge company, so it's not so out of the question that Amanda could possibly work there. That they weren't honest with Ripley about Amanda also isn't so mysterious given their well documented self serving use and omission of facts to suit their own purposes. After all, they did basically put her on trial for blowing up the Nostromo even though they knew what really happened.

All that said, I'm going to be very cautious about buying this game. Definitely not a day one purchase.

Why not wait till the games out?

Seriously, what's the point of being so negative. Look at how awesome it could be instead of what could go wrong.

fenome3991d ago

This article seriously sounds like the rant of a 15 year old, especially since he hasn't even gotten hands-on time with the game yet. He's just picking it apart based on info and videos that we all have seen.

The only thing I want out of Isolation is a good experience. I loved the Aliens movies when I was younger, but I haven't watched them in years. I'm not going to play it to point out plotholes, I'm going to play it because it looks like something I want to experience (not in real life though!).

Outlast was a trip, and I'm definitely getting that vibe from this game, the difference is that this game has an awesome freaking alien!

TomahawkX3991d ago

true, I hope this game gets 85%+ meta rating, only stupid movie nerds care about plotholes.

-Foxtrot3991d ago (Edited 3991d ago )

My problem isn't if it actually does end up being a letdown...my problem is seeing people blindly falling for another Alien game straight away like they know it's going to be amazing despite the past few games being average to plain terrible.

It's sad to see people blindly get sucked into the hype yet again without any sign of being cautious. If it's good, it's good but after whats happened in the past be careful.

AgentSmithPS43991d ago

It's like letting friends pre-order or buy an EA/DICE game early (or even months later), they should be warned ;).

"Believe and be enslaved by your beliefs." - someone
I like what I've seen from this game so far but I'm still not going to buy it until later after it's proven itself.

I wish the community would take a stand against pre-order stuff so bad games make less money and so people can read reviews and get public opinion. Just as a guide so people can make informed choices (some people even complain about reading reviews...).

fenome3991d ago

It isn't made by any of the developers that have tried and failed in the past though, so why not be cautiously optimistic?

The way I see it, it's just as bad to blindly bash the game because of others mistakes as it is to blindly follow the actual ones who made them in the first place.

fanboysmackdown3991d ago

This author is a complete butthole. I'll leave my purchase or non purchase up to trusted reviewers when it comes out and skip turds like this guy.

AgentSmithPS43991d ago

lolwut. Ty for the strange laugh.

I read lots of reviews, especially bad ones, I want to know if the game has problems I can live with.

I played through most of the PS4 version of the game but stopped because another game came out. I bought it last year for PC with the intention of using the VR mod but haven't gotten around to setting it up. I am glad I waited.

Neonridr15d ago

Great game, even better in VR. A little drawn out by the end, but I hope we see CA do something a little different with the sequel.

OtterX15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Sweet. I also rebought this game on Steam for the purpose of VR. I'll have to give it another shot w full immersive controls. I had only tried it out briefly before.

It's funny this was never officially released at retail as a VR game, bc it feels so perfect for it!
