I don't see why it's so underwhelming... Looks a lot better than last years! I think a lot of people have been soured by past Maddens. Sad, but it happens. Can't really blame them, some Madden release have been less than quality.

I don't see why its underwhelming... Animation wise maybe... but I like how they are adding mechanics to make playing a lineman fun!

Graphics wise though it looks fantastic.

That's why I like simulators, but I only buy them every three years, depending the changes in roster and stuff like that.

I love 2K5 and I know everyone wants to see it return... but really the graphics are not bad at all on madden.

Its ok to praise a game even if its from the EVIL EA!
I mean im sure there are deserving areas of criticism such as are they gonna have a full fledged franchise mode?

You noticed that too? Aside from some slight graphical touches, it still looks just like it did on PS2...shinier and better, but still the same. They've been stacking engine upon engine. But, it really DOES need a totally new graphics engine. I got tired of seeing something so similar year after year.

It's not necessarily being a "sheep" when it comes to NFL games. EA bought a monopoly in the football market. If you want simulation football you have no choice but to go to Madden, even if it's just for an updated roster and some overhyped term like "war in the trenches" or "QB vision".

And I'm not so sure about them starting over, we all saw how NBA Live turned out after they decided to start over.

Like in this state it could look good, but the animations haven't changed much from previous Madden games, they still look weird. I can easily compare this to Madden NFL 08 on the Wii.
