Destiny On Wii U? Gamers Create Petition To Make It Happen

One Angry Gamer "Why should Nintendo and the little Wii U-that-could be left out in the field? The system is more than capable to play the latest and greatest games; and there are obviously more people in ownership of a Wii U than an Xbox One. So why shouldn't Destiny be on the system? Well, some gamers think that it should and that's why they've created a petition to make it happen."

@nextlevel: if you just port the 360 version it's not a lot of work at all. Darksiders 2 took them 1 week to port to wii u. I think if nintendo would approach them and offer some kind of deal it would not be an issue, but nintendo isn't really big on that...

Chicken / Egg. The Wii U gets a lot of poor attempts from third parties (Injustice got the DLC later / no preorder dlc / no deals like how Walmart offered MK vs DC with Injustice, Batman was missing multiplayer, Deus EX cost more money, Vita getting the special Rayman Legends features, things like CoD Ghosts are announced later, additional delays like Aliens CM [though this is dead now] and Watch Dogs, etc), which logically results in poor sales, so it becomes a catch 22. Companies don't want to waste a lot of money on something that probably won't sell, so we either get nothing or half hearted efforts. Consumers want a quality experience and don't want to give companies the green light to make shotty ports, so they opt for the superior versions. Ultimately one side needs to give, which probably won't ever happen.

Call of Duty on the original Wii sold good enough. On Wii U they said before release "NO DLC", which basically means, you pay full price, but wont get the full game. Hmm... sometimes I really dont understand, why people have such a hard time to understand simple logic like: IF I HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MONEY TO SPEND, THEN I WILL GET THE VERSION, WHERE I CAN GET ALL CONTENT FOR THE GAME.

They did not say, that there is no DLC, but they said, before release, that they wont offer the game on the eShop and no content in it and since DLC is only doable through the eShop the media practically instantly read between the lines and said that this will happen. There were news everywhere about CoD Ghost on Wii U no DLC.

@UltimateMaster I love comments like this. People have very short memory's. The GameCube and N64 had had more power than the PS2 and PSX but 3rd party games did not sell as well on them too.

Nintendo's market is different to Sony's and Microsoft and you only have to look at the numbers to see this.

Ide love to see the WiiU get more 3rd party support but its up to the 3rd party's to push their own IP's on Nintendo's platform. Look at the 3DS. Nintendo let the 3rd party's take centre stage at the start and it did not work. Once Mario Kart and the Nintendo IP's came along the sales started to boom.

For me Nintendo now need to look at making their big name games and throw in some new and really old IP's in the mix as this will help the console stand out from the PS4 and Xbox one.

I could see this happening. It would atleast be on par if not better than the X360/PS3 versions, from a graphics point. Can you do game chat on wiiU, though. It might sound silly but I never heard much about how wii games play online. But I dont want to see nintendo fans left out in the cold..or PC fans for that matter.

Activision is often late to announcing Wii U ports, so who knows if it's ever happening. I'm getting my copy with the PS4 bundle, but I'm going to sign this anyway. Any support for Wii U at this point is good support.

Why not, simple because activison likely already figured it won't sell enough copies to warrant the costs of paying for a wii u port or releasing it to retail.

Publishers don't release games on systems, just because it can handle it. If third party games sold as bad on the ps3 or 360 as the wii u, it's third part support would be just as barren.

The biggest reason they sell so horribly, though, is because third parties have this habit of gimping their own games on the Wii U.

They would have more consumer trust, and thus more sales, if they could prove they'll consistently support their own games with full content.

It's not any one underlying issue. If you say Wii U games don't sell just because of Nintendo fans or just because of gimped ports, then you're oversimplifying the issue here. Almost two years out, Wii U has a lower install base and most of that install base consists of families with children, and hardcore Nintendo fans. Many of these games are trying to appeal to the Xbox and Sony crowd, so there is a rift in who they are supposed to be marketed toward.

Pointing the finger at Nintendo fans is silly nowadays because wonderfulmonkey is right, many of the Wii U ports are simply not on the same bar as the others. They tend to be objectively inferior by lacking content and not taking advantage of the Wii U's hardware at all. On the flip side, you can't just blame the gimped ports, because the ports at Wii U's launch were decent from what I've seen. I watched a friend play through Black Ops II and Assassin's Creed III on Wii U and they were mostly on par with the 360 version I played. Those didn't sell that well either. So again, there's more to it than just one or the other.

I think people disagreed because the game is hitting last generation consoles so from a technical standpoint there isn't much reason to say no to a Wii U version. If storage space is an issue then fans do have the option of an external HDD on Wii U. I already had one ready for mine when I got it. :)

I'm sorry, but I've got to stick to what I've seen the Wii U's history prove, here; even if Destiny came to the Wii U, it would likely be missing content, or it would be poorly optimized for the system and thus would look worse than it should.

That's been the overall trend with multiplatform games on the Wii U thus far; there is no compelling evidence, as far as I'm aware, that suggests this would change just because it's Bungie's game.
These things would make it sell worse than if it were properly supported.

The Wii U doesn't need more badly-done multiplatform ports, people! Don't you understand that by now? Haven't we seen enough of games like Sniper Elite V2 and CoD Ghosts to know that multiplatform titles are only hurting the Wii U?

I think its about time that you accept that the Wii U is less powerful than the Xbox One and the PS4. Its a good console but dont expect multiplats to be on the same level as the PS4 and XB1 versions.

The best thing you can do is support 3rd parties by buying their games just like PS3 and Xbox 360 owners do even though their version of the game is inferior to the games on current gen systems.

Name a multipart on wii u that is missing dlc and I can guarantee you that it could easily host it just like any other version. (Especially considering many of these same ports also come to last gen systems with full content support. If last gen can handle it, so can wii u)

I think people like you don't seem to understand who the Wiiu base is. It's mostly children and parents are not going out to buy this game when whatever Mario Title is sitting next to it.

It's a tough choice. As someone who has most 3rd party Wii U games I do see the missing DLC, the good and bad ports. Is it a little insulting? Yes. Does it always matter? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I have lovely games like Need for Speed and Black Flag. I have crappy ports like Ghosts and Origins. This week after much debate I got Splinter Cell Blacklist. You know what it doesn't look "next gen" but it still looks good and was just as fun as the ones I played years ago.

But as a half time mmo fiend I do agree that Dragon Quest, Destiny or any mmo would be a welcome addition to a somewhat disconnected library.

And you clearly don't watch enough Disney channel because I always see you talking about marketing when Nintendo's marketing for the WiiU has been outstanding. The WiiU and wii were both used primarily by children and casuals and sales of core games are proof of that. Of course this is where we start talking about bad ports to justify those bad sales.

So let's discuss the real issue. The WiiU is a console designed for simple titles like Mario and the only way the WiiU will ever see games like Destiny is if they build a special version like the Wii or Ps2 and you'll just continue to blame everyone but those responsible.

Lots of development teams are having tunnel vision and the big hurt is coming. The phone apps have failed for many of them. One big let down this gen and it maybe over. These studios might want to experiment more.... this is what the wiiu is for.

I find it funny how people think 3rd party games don't sell well on the Wii U. They never look at the bigger picture How bout release a game on the Wii U and give all features and make the game look and play great. Then 6 - 8 months later release the game on the PS4 and X box one with features cut out and then lets see what happens. Also I took a game that didn't sell well on all platforms and did the VGC number comparison as it is pretty much the only place that somewhat tracks numbers.

PS3 with 70 million plus systems sold the most at 0.38 globally.

Wii U with about 7 million systems 0.34 globally

360 with about 70 million systems 0.27

Ps4- 0.16
XBox One - 0.07

People the numbers don't lie games selling are based off of features, timing, and price point.

Many think if, it comes to Nintendo it just won't sell case closed. The truth is it's more complicated than that. The truth is problems that were seemingly not a problem go way back to the NES/ SNES days. Nintendo ruled with an iron fist and since they were the top platform and many third party games sold well they put up with it. Think about it Nintendo helped put EA on the map when Madden came out for it. Now one main thing that was a game changer was the PlayStation twofold. One thing it sold like hotcakes and with the introduction of cheaper CDs to the market instead of cartridges. That and I am sure Sony helped some out as well $$$.

Skip to GameCube after N64. Nintendo made a jump in features, but still the PlayStation
had a big previous install base to build upon. Couple that with the GameCube lacking online capabilities, no backwards compatibility, no DVD and less game storage on disc and a new competitor. Even still the third party support was pretty good, but this was the beginning of features lacking on Nintendo systems as the norm.

Then skip ahead to the Wii. It had a great install base, but wasn't the easiest to design for. At this point in the people's mind Nintendo system's=watered down third party games. Often lacking online, cut down graphics and other features or dlc.

Now we get to the Wii U. Had a good start. Many holding off to see what Sony and Microsoft will do and will Nintendo deliver. Red flags soon appear in the mind of folks. Things like Madden for the Wii U not getting the new engine features. Then slick game publisher moves. EA releasing a Mass Effects trilogy while releasing the 3rd game in the series itself for the Wii U for more than the 3. Then a delay on a completed Rayman Legends game. Things like this said to the public "uh oh here we go again." One neglected issue in the mix is last gen was mostly a two or three console household. Because of this since many of the system seller Nintendo games were delayed on the system most folks just held off on buying a Wii U. That and uncertainty with third party games. It's so many questions with Wii U games and usually not good answers.

Most folks conclude that Wii U games will lack something. They may know know what, but they feel it will lack something. You have one game with all the bells and whistles then two or three without it.

So no the key problem is not that the Nintendo system is a "kiddie machine." Nintendo has had more adult or violent games on it's system. As the graphics got better and it got more realistic it became an issue though. Take Fist of North star, Nightmare On Elm St, Friday the 13th for the NES, Mortal Kombat for the SNES, Godfather: Blackhand Edition and Manhunt 2 for the Wii. Although Nintendo didn't publish these games they allowed them on their systems.

At the end of the day if, I were selling a car that may or may not have air conditioning versus one that does which one you most likely will get? Like that won't make be a factor in sales. Give me a break people!

Even though nintendo avoids direct competition the other 3rd parties have axes to grind.i get the feeling that if they can keep nintendo at bay they can pr everything up so they can keep making pretty broken games and continue the circle jerk to their money train. People won't believe it until they open their eyes and look at the list of the top 20 selling games all time. Nintendo might be a platform but they are also THE top selling software seller bar none. Obviously competing software companies wouldn't mind if Nintendo disappeared and left their market share open. That said, some of these competing devs have forgotten the face of their father.
