Can Halo: The Master Chief Collection Save the Xbox One?

Although the Xbox One is selling well, the PlayStation 4 has reportedly almost doubled their sales, leaving absolutely no doubt that Sony is establishing an early – yet strong – lead over their primary competition. So while the Xbox One does not need saving per se, it most definitely needs to close the gap in sales. And releasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the perfect way to do so.

Xbox One doesn't need saving yet I do assume that this will get people to buy an Xbox One sooner than they anticipated.

aconnellan3137d ago

I agree, there's no cause for saving at this point in time (5 million or over is pretty awesome in itself). But I'm of the same opinion in that it will definitely move some units.

I know a couple of people that bought a One specifically for Halo, so they were pretty pumped when they heard about this.

You people are in for such a rude awakening. Aside from the first 2 months (Holidays), the Xbox One is selling much less than the 360. If you'd like me to show you, just ask.

Titanfall was suppose to save the Xbox One and like I said lead to lower months than the 360 ever had. For starters the Xbox One sold 115,000 and 77,000 the last few months, find those numbers for the 360 here.

Spoiler: You can't.

aconnellan3137d ago

*Incoming sarcasm* You're absolutely right, because Titanfall didn't massively boost the Xbox One's sales, then nothing in the next 7 years will

I like Titanfall, and it's a really good game, but it was overhyped to no end. No offense to Respawn, but I would take The Master Chief Collection over it any day of the week.

You people? What type of person am I exactly?

"I like Titanfall, and it's a really good game, but it was overhyped to no end. No offense to Respawn, but I would take The Master Chief Collection over it any day of the week."

I agree. I think the MCC will move more systems than Titanfall.

But the fact remains.

1. It's selling less than the 360. It had bigger initial launch (because of the holidays and Xbox fans from 360) and a much much bigger drop than the 360 EVER had already.

2. Since dropping Kinect it can't stay in the top 50 on and isn't even in the top 100 on

3. We've heard this same song and dance a bunch of times already. How many saviours does this system need?

Dewitt3137d ago (Edited 3137d ago )

The console is not even a year old yet. I know you hope it fails, but the sample size is much too small to determine if this is true. Also, selling 5 million units in less than a year is pretty awesome.

Bruh..., you need to slow down. Almost every article you post negative to the XOne. We get it. Both PS4 & XOne are good machines. XOne had a rough start and less launch countries worldwide. So, yes it was presumed that the PS4 will start with a nice stretch.

You put in so much energy letting N4G know for your hate and Trollish anxiety. And remember this, just because you lead in the first doesn't mean you're going to be the winner in the end. We don't know what the future has for both consoles. So chill the **** out and enjoy the games being delivered for us to play.

How has the price drop affected sales. We will have to wait for NPD to find out. Also, a second or a third place finish doesn't exactly mean failure.

Dudebro903137d ago what? This mentality of if you're not first you're last needs to stop when it comes to Xbox Vs Playstation.

I still love how the Wii destroyed both last gen when its comes to hardware sales, but nobody really "counts" that.

Hellsvacancy3137d ago (Edited 3137d ago )

"but nobody really counts that" damn right, that's because the Wii wasn't in the same category as the PS3/360, if that's the case why don't we throw mobile phone and PC sales into the mix, they play games aswel

Nintendo did an amazing job, but they are a gen behind, same with the Wii-U

JBSleek3137d ago

They aren't a generation behind....

Generations are determined by time periods not the power of the console. Therefore the Wii U is in the eighth generation along with PS4 and Xbox One.

Also the Wii was in the same generation as the PS3 and Xbox 360.

The rest of your arguments about phones and PC was silly so no need to respond.

Dudebro903137d ago

Maybe because mobile and pcs don't have dedicated hardware for 5-10 year periods?

JeffGUNZ3137d ago

@ Hellsvacancy

Here we go, typical N4G moving the goal posts. You have all these fanboys crying and screaming about the SALES of the consoles. You have Next Level crying about it and boosting the PS4 sales. Yet, when the Wii, a VIDEO GAME CONSOLE sells more last gen then the Xbox and PS, we don't count that because it's not the same? What? Just because you don't care for the Wii, doesn't mean it doesn't get counted. All you're doing is removing one to make your belief count stronger. It's pathetic.
