Sword Art Online Demoed by Oculus VR at Anime Expo 2014

Oculus VR are continuing their public outings with the second development kit (aka DK2) of the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) this week at the Anime Expo 2014 in Los Angeles, California. The latest title to be showcased by the hardware manufacturer has been known to be in development for virtual reality (VR) HMD’s for some time, but has not previously been seen in public running on the devices.

The story is too old to be commented.

That's crazy when you think about the Sword Art Online story and how it started with a head-mounted Virtual Reality game.

"Currently in development at CyberConnect2, the studio behind the .hack// anime videogame series for PlayStation 2 among others,"

That just adds to how awesome this is. Hopefully it comes to Morpheus too.

Oh shit, now if they can improve that resolution. Seriously though such tech might be closer than we think, every prerequisite technology is known to be progressing and that's just the declassified stuff we know of.

My guess at an ETA for such things to culminate like this and hit the consumer market is 25yrs and past history has shown that tech advances faster than you would expect it to at the time.
