Civilization: Beyond Earth will come out on October 24, publisher 2K Games announced today. And if your immediate reaction to that news is to wonder why everything is coming out in October, you're not alone.

It's really stupid. Barely any games to play for most of this year then there will be too many games in October. Sales for many of the games will be hurtby the surplus of titles releasing then the companies will complain when they don't sell enough.

I agree I think destiny was very smart releasing a month earlier than all of those it should really help their sales. The only thing to keep me entertained until September will be TLOU so both those games should see good sales. You all are right though I think it will hurt other games due to people having to choose what to get.

I already know why. Game releases in October, November, February and August are common due to fiscal quarters. Publishers intentionally want games out as this time so they can make good earnings and they get to show "Hey! We made money this fiscal quarter! YAY!"

We have The Last of Us at the end of the month. The next month Minecraft PS4 Edition(neither my best friend or I have played it but we have since come around and are really anxious to get it), the next month Destiny, and the next month Dragon Age Inquisition.

After looking at this list, all I can think is I'm glad I have a 3 game Gamefly membership. I must make sure it's clear come October. I will buy a few of those games, but that's way too many in one month to even think about buying them all. Some of them I'll be happy to wait for a Steam sale. Definitely a good month. I don't mind a mass release of games at all.
