Project Morpheus Could Use Real World Lighting & Acoustics Patent Suggests

VRFocus - Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) headset for PlayStation 4 is still in its prototype stages, the company has recently confirmed. We can expect, then, to see a range of updates and additions to the device in the coming months as work on its hardware continues. This week VRFocus has uncovered a new patent from SCE specifically that suggests Project Morpheus could incorporate real world lighting and acoustics into experiences.

Dont clocks solve this? I mean its a cool concept and all, but isnt there more efficient ways? i mean people leave lights on, so day and night wont appear different to morpheus

I'm all for anything that improves immersion. I hope these kinds of things can be incorporated so that it doesn't impact the gameplay in a negative way.

IcicleTrepan3582d ago

well, as long as it doesn't increase the price of the product to something that nobody will want to pay.

Also true. Morpheus is still a prototype but I hope Sony will eventually finalise and release it at a realistic and reasonable price.

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
