UE4 Powered Skara Coming To PS4/XB1 In Q4 2014; Next Gen To Get Same Quality Of PC

Skara: The Blade Remains, now seeking funds through Kickstarter, has a target release for both PS4 & XB1 within the end of 2014, according to the developer; there shouldn't be any compromises in terms of graphics quality.

This is really pissing me off now. Why should PC quality suffer so it can have some parity to these lower mid range at best consoles.

I understand your a small team but damn can we not do this, this generation.

kaiserfranz3737d ago

They never said that PC will suffer because of consoles, just that they will get the same overall quality. If you have a powerful PC you will probably be able to push it further

JBSleek3737d ago

That's exactly what they said. It's the crap that happened with Watch Dogs and what is happening with Far Cry 4. Why would someone with a PC want the same quality as consoles.

Fishy Fingers3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Your taking the headline out of context (easily done on N4G):

"we are pretty confident about porting Skara to next generation of consoles with the same graphic quality, resolution and frame rate than the PC version."

They've not begun porting so how can the PC version be suffering? "Pretty confident", not "will".

Volkama3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Fishy fingers how can they be confident of porting it over with the same resolution and framerate? That makes no sense, unless they are artificially capping the PC version before even starting the console versions. The HDMI 1.4a ports on the consoles can't support the same resolutions and framerates a PC can...

I know it isn't you making that statement, so don't feel you need to answer lol.

TheMapleNerd3737d ago

I think it is because if all the fanboys of the consoles knew how slow their console is, they would buy pc instead :P
(Before disagree, i'm not saying all consoles owners are fanboys.)

Alexious3737d ago

They are indeed slower on a purely technical level, but they can also be optimized a lot more, which is their saving grace.

Volkama3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Ordinarily I agree. My PC can push 6x more teraflops than a PS4.

But to put together the high quality assets and textures to genuinely take advantage of that? That's got to be expensive from a development perspective. I don't expect every dev out there to be able to invest in getting the most out of high-end tech. Not every game needs to push the graphical envelope in order to be fun.

It isn't like they are going to deliberately stop you having better AA, resolution, framerates. It'll just be a match in terms of artwork.

The likes of Ubisoft on the other hand, stripping effects off of their games? Yes I am with you on that, it shouldn't happen.

kaiserfranz3737d ago

Obviously bigger developers can invest more in assets, true, although that doesn't necessarily mean the game will look great - Ghosts is a good example in this case.

F4sterTh4nFTL3737d ago

Let any developers say what they want to sell their games, we know the end result will almost always be that the PC version will be better, simply because we have better controls, resolution, anti-aliasing, frame-rate etc.

one advantage of PC to console is that you can mod PC games :)

kaiserfranz3737d ago

That's for sure. Yesterday I tried the Watch_Dogs E3 2012 demo and the game not only looked better, it also ran faster!

scotmacb3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Ha ha thats why its better to own an x1 thats where the sales are and the more they get the swing of these consoles the more its gonna happen pc's are to far ahead that no one is taking advantage of titan gfx cards yet we are at the x1 / ps4 stage just now once they get every little drop of power out of them it won't move on

Bonkerz3737d ago

PC gamers im sorry but you guys are literally at the bottom of the totem pole. You are always going to be thought about last because they make the least amount of money from PC gaming. Dont you guys ever realize that no exclusives come to PC? To much pirating, and honestly the console gaming market is way to strong for them to care about the minimal sales that the PC will produce when compared to consoles.

F4sterTh4nFTL3737d ago

PC has dozens of exclusives genres let alone hundreds of exclusive games, and besides all multiplatform games are "exclusively" better on PC and this is the age of AAA multiplatform games and PC does them best and will always do.

Living in your world must be crazy...

OldDude3737d ago (Edited 3737d ago )

Why don't you bother reading financial statements on companies like EA and see they make more money on PC than any other platform. For starters PC players moved on from disc a long time ago and Steam sales aren't considered for retail sales. Your comment is that of an ignorant fanboy.

60FramesPerSecond3737d ago

Hopefully this isnt a common thing. ps4 is strong and all, but still generations behind the strongest pcs
