Developer Compile Heart jumps the shark with Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection, but doesn't stick the landing.
VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Console wars have been around pretty much since the dawn of videogames, but the Hyperdimension Neptunia series makes light of these arguments by personifying consoles and their manufacturers as cute goddesses and has them battle it out for supremacy. It proved to be a sleeper hit for publisher Compile Heart, who after an initially shaky start with the first entry transformed the series into its most compelling franchise."
Destructoid:
"The Hyperdimension Neptunia series is a polarizing one. Some find Compile Heart’s thinly-veiled parodies of the game industry engaging and painfully adorable, and flock to it for an abundance of fanservice. Others run far, far away at the mere mention of the developer’s swath of content, especially given its less than lukewarm reception among critics and gaming publications."
Parallax Play: "In the latest adventure with the Gamindustry girls, they take a step out of their action RPG comfort zone and take a stab at becoming idols in this idol-management sim / parody game to face a new threat to their nations. If you’ve played any of the Hyperdimension Neptunia games before, you’ll know that you can expect to see copious amounts of references and parodies of games and companies in the real world."
This is so incredibly Japan.
