Spintires Review - Mouse n Joypad

Gale writes- "In the end, Spintires serves a wonderfully unique experience that will ensure at least a couple of hours of fun with virtually every gamer out there. Its relatively steep price is what makes recommending the game a tad bit problematic, however, as not everyone will be able to drive around aimlessly for two dozens of hours on end. If you like cars, trucks, racing games, driving simulators or virtually anything that includes vehicles, buy it. If you’re a thrill-seeker that rushes through titles, though, you might want to get it during a sale."

Its a bit pricey, though considering the many hours I put into it its not too much. Really, I've paid more for a lot less before.

Don't be fooled by the simplistic nature of the objectives, getting from point A to point B is the game. You have to figure out what route to take with what size load. On some maps you may on;y be able to use a certain route once or twice before the ruts get too bad.

The depth of this game isn't what you have to do, its how you do it. If that's your "thing", this game is for you.

Note on the camera. Yes, you will most likely hate it at first, but once you really get comfortable with it, you begin to appreciate it. Cabin/front views are in the works and with those I think it will work out fine.

Imagining the Physics of Spintires in Other Driving Simulators

— PC Gaming Enthusiast:

The Spintires series of games is relatively young when compared to other franchises on the market, but they’ve become very big deals for good reason: they offer a sublime simulation of off-road driving. The complex physics that’s used in these games is highly impressive, and it got me thinking: what if other popular driving simulators like Farming Simulator and American/Euro Truck Simulator also had a physics like this?
