Firaxis had kept the turn-based games up with that and the Civilization franchise, and more developers have been coming up to the forefront with their own turn-based strategy and tactics games to keep the genre alive and kicking. That’s what the developers of Xenonauts are coming from, and they’re doing it with X-COM.
XCOM like games have become very popular in recent years but some of them definitely stick to the original formula closer than others.
