Zipper Interactive working on new MMO for PS3?

"Zipper Interactive, a 1st party Sony developer best known as the creators of SOCOM, have posted new job listings on their website, looking for a senior server engineer and a senior network engineer. Under both listings, they have listed "Experience with persistent MMP server programming a plus". In addition to that, 2 years ago, they also had a job listing looking for someone with experience in "large scale online games".

With Slant Six Games producing the fourth entry in the SOCOM series instead of Zipper, this raises questions as to what their next project could be. Could Zipper's next project be some sort of MMO game? Certainly seems that way. Expect some new information from Sony at the upcoming E3."

The Agency is being developed by Sony Online Entertainment. Has NCSoft announced any titles for the PS3 yet? I'm dying for some MMO right now.

You just gotta love the first party publishing power that Sony has. A Socom MMO sounds pretty nice, but a new IP would definantly be very interesting. If Sony released their own first party MMO, they would have first party game titles for almost every genre.

i want an exclusive wrpg. sony doesnt have alot of wrpgs as exclusives. they have a pretty solid jrpgs good enough to par with 360's imo but no wrpgs outside of fallout3, alpha protocol, oblivion and some others.

Sony doesn't own the IP for those games. If anything the wester rpgs will be made by SOE which created the popular Everquest MMO. The chance of Sony pulling in a Fallout MMO is pretty slim.

I sense glitches galore. Zipper has a reputation for glitches. I think they're fun to do though, personally. GNK rooms are always a blast on SOCOM.

Sony already have 1st party MMO titles. For example: Vanguard, Champions of Norrath, Pirates CSG, Everquest and many more.

I love Socom and Zipper but my feelings are mixed. Am not really a fan of MMO's so forgive me for not gettin as excited. I gotta see some more on this before i swing either way.

Could it be some sort of Mercenary type MMO? Where clans could play a big role too or you could solo it all in a huge real world sim type universe? Men oh men, this really sounds sweet.
