GoodGameBro writes, "Somewhere along the line, things went really wrong for EA SPORTS UFC. As the first fully-licensed UFC game from EA Sports, the first post-THQ UFC release, and the first combat sport simulation for the next generation of consoles, the intrigue surrounding this release couldn’t be much higher. It’s a shame then that it falls so flat on its face."
EA Sports UFC 4 is back, but is it better than ever?
From PSU: "Without a doubt the best MMA videogame ever made, EA Sports UFC 4 supplements a welcome array of new offline and online modes with a revamped and endlessly sophisticated combat system that everybody can enjoy. For MMA fans it doesn't get any better than this."
Strange as a lot of YouTube beta players hated it. They've had years and just copied and pasted ufc 3 ith a few new haircuts
I agree with this review, I tried it only because it's free on EA Access and figured I'd hate it like I did the other games but lo and behold I loved it and plan to buy it now. The game is so much more fun now that they've made it so much less complicated and inaccessible to non-hardcore fighter fans.
A beautiful reminder of how much I miss Fight Night, check out my review on Watch-Loki!
learn how to play! reviews are just opinion written from someone that might hate or like the game they are playing but that's why we have our on opinions.
If the game is buggy and broken then yes it's a bad game but just because it doesn't play how you want it to doesn't mean the next gamer will have a problem with it.
goodgamebro were hyping the shit out of this game b4 release and now they come out with this lol...well i think the games ace best fun ive had online for ages and fuck the ai its all about online.
I agree that the fighters aren't as diverse as they should be (since we were promised so much authenticity) and the menus are very absurd. And it does seem like fighters can take way too much punishment to the head, and knockouts are awkward. And the training is abysmal, yes.
BUT, I do think that the game is very fun. After getting used to the (poorly introduced) controls, I started to have fun I appreciate that not every action is a simple button-combo away. One thing must lead to another, then you can perform your submission or suplex takedown. I like the submission minigame, but I hate that I can't appreciate the fancy visuals and watch the submission actually happen because the minigame is so large. I do, however, like that it requires focus and seems like a chess match.
Hell, I didn't mean to sound like I'm writing my own review down in the comments >.< You had some fantastic points that even high-end magazines failed to mention, but I think the game was worth buying upon release.
I played all of the Undisputed games and loved them. Yes this one is a little more shallow and there are quite a few moves / modes missing. However, the striking is really fun and the simplified ground game is also pretty good. I like the submission system, my only problem is that it takes my eyes of off the submission itself. I know that would be hard to replicate. There's a few tweaks to be made but fun factor is a 9/10 for me. EA has a very solid foundation and next year could top ufc 3.
This game has some huge flaws but some how it's still fun.
