The PS4 may be too popular for its own good

It’s hard to imagine Sony would have much to complain about given that the PlayStation 4 is continually toppling its competition from Nintendo and Microsoft month after month, but stock shortages, which were heavily reported around the console’s launch, have apparently endured throughout 2014.

Make some more Sony, use all that money from the ads on the World Cup Brazil.

Eddie201011634d ago

The tittle makes absolutely no sense. Not being able to keep up with demand and beating estimated sales numbers is a problem any company would like to have.

SkippyPaccino1634d ago

Everybody knows only apple is allowed to have supply shortages. Everyone else is filled under "horrible planning" lol!

F4sterTh4nFTL1634d ago (Edited 1634d ago )

Sony should buy Xbox division from Microsoft and use their newly acquired factories to make many more Playstation 4 consoles to keep up with the demand.

Guwapo771634d ago

What do you do with the factories after the initial demand goes back to normal?

F4sterTh4nFTL1634d ago

The high demand for PS4 will never go back to normal when it has one less competitor to deal with and eventually it will become the only one making consoles, the rest will be forced into bankruptcy by Sony and/or their assets acquired. I see a very bright future for Sony if they take my brilliant advice.

sic_chops1634d ago

Umm... No. We need competition. Microsoft and Sony make each other's console better for everybody by competing.

DigitalHope1634d ago

No more X1 means no more X1 thumbsticks for my DS4 controllers.

Keep the race going.

Kivespussi1634d ago

That would mean doom for console gaming. PC would be the way to go after that. You really want there to be no competition?

kayoss1634d ago

This is the dumbest idea this week.

uth111634d ago

Aren't they both manufactured by Foxconn?

PunisherRevenge1633d ago

Wow....you do know Sony couldn't afford XBox even if they wanted to.

By the end of July they'll be at 9 million.

KinjoTakemura1634d ago

More like 8.2 or 8.3 million. Their only moving about 200,000 units per month, but that's more than double of what the Xbox One is selling.

S2Killinit1634d ago

Actally they sell about 120,000 per week. About half a mill per month.

sovkhan1634d ago

Average is 500k /month worldwide and they are already at 8.2 m

SoapShoes1634d ago

Uhhh that's only in America. Europe is probably higher. We don't kno how well they're doing.

akraven1634d ago

There's a stack at my local Costco.

TheFreshestLlama1634d ago

I've got a bunch around me as well, but I think a lot of Europe is having the issues. That's if an article I read on here yesterday is to be believed. They'll catch up to demand eventually. Look at the Wii last generation, shortages just made the the masses even more hungry it seemed.

Drekken1634d ago

This proves it is all just lies! This guy's Costco has some. In your face Sony!

akraven1634d ago

You want one? Thousand bucks. There's also 2 pallets full of xbone's.

danny8181634d ago

in other countries they are having issues. America was filled with ps4 after feb.
