Mii Fighters were added to Super Smash Bros due to growing presence and fan requests

Polygon:
"Mii Fighters — the recent addition to the Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS rosters — were initially considered for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and despite initial misgivings about using Miis to fight, the evolution of their overall use eventually made the idea possible, according to Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai in his Weekly Famitsu column."

randomass1713620d ago

Odd. I've seen just as many requests to keep Miis out. Oh well, I more than welcome it. Now instead of using a slot on Reggie, you can use his Mii and just about anyone else you want.

Sheed3619d ago

I'm not gunna lie, i was one of the people who wanted Miis out.
However, since they aren't playable online i'll just continue to pretend they don't exist.

Blackleg-sanji3619d ago

It was bound to happen honestly especially since they have their own stage

BattleN3619d ago

I signed the reggie petition, anyone else?

slivery3619d ago

Please no, put someone in far more deserving. Reggie is the definition of a tool, the guy doesn't care about you or any of your petitions.

I really do despise how popular he is based on nothing really but memes and Nintendo making him popular. Other than that he is a real asshole in real life, people should know that.

He's openly come out to say he doesn't listen to fans and he was once quoted saying that used games are not consumer friendly. Everyone treats him like a god for some reason, which I'll never understand why.

"I have to tell you-it doesn't affect what we do, we certainly look at it, and we're certainly aware of it, but it doesn't necessarily affect what we do."

So according to him even if a fan were to come up with the best idea in the world for Nintendo, it doesn't mean shit to Reggie.

"We don't believe used games are in the best interest of the consumer."

OKAY!!!! I can't even respond to a dumb ass statement like that.

I've always thought if anyone needs to be removed from Nintendo it is Reggie, he was never in touch with gaming to begin with and he still isn't now, I mean literally Reggie never worked with games before Nintendo.

For the life of me I don't know why Nintendo hired someone like him to be president of a gaming company.

People also forget that Reggie was the one who didn't want to localize Xenoblade, he thought it was a horrible idea and did a lot to prevent the game from being localized. The game was a huge success once it was localized and it is heralded as one of the best Wii games ever made.

So way to go Reggie! Let us all worship the man!

Ugh he reminds of all the bad suits that left from Microsoft. I really see him as no better, he is anti-consumer friendly, he doesn't care about what fans have to say and he literally is an asshole to people outside of is fake facade for Nintendo.

randomass1713619d ago

@slivery This is a lot of news to me. I had never heard of Reggie proactively trying NOT to allow a game be localized in the west. The quote you showed doesn't necessarily mean Nintendo ignores their fans, it only means that they hear fans but don't always consider taking the feedback into account. Anyway, feel free to PM me the links to clarify those quotes. I've never heard of any of that stuff happening and it's very unfortunate if true.

Mikito113618d ago

Yes they do, Mii quest stage in 3DS

Chard3619d ago (Edited 3619d ago )

I hate Mii's - actually I like the concept, but they just seem so thoughtlessly designed.

BattleN3619d ago

Your old school bro, and actually there more custom-made for smash 4.
alternate costumes and custom move sets are welcome addition's!

Zerotino3619d ago

Fan requests? When myself and the people I know found out about the Mii's, there was not one positive comment about it.

Lighter93618d ago (Edited 3618d ago )

I think people have been wanting Pichu, Dr. Mario, Roy and Mewtwo more than Miis.

It's a "scroll wheel" feature on the controller. Switch 2 rumored to have one.

XiNatsuDragnel166d ago

Scroll wheel would be in line with nintendos uniqueness I find appealing imo.

Rainbowcookie165d ago

Just wish they would lower their prices after games are a few years old. Its hard in countries where the exchange rate kills gaming. 1 game is = to and 1/8 of their paycheck. Hard to play a nice mario when its like that.

0hMyGandhi165d ago

Damn, you guys got mean marios over there?

GotGame818165d ago (Edited 165d ago )

Nintendo used to lower prices back in the Gamecube Wii days. They were called Nintendo Selects and priced $20.00. They haven't done that in years. Nintendo should!

FinalFantasyFanatic165d ago

@GotGame818,

I miss those days, they didn't even lower prices for 3DS games before they scuttled new Eshop purchases, or prices on physical copies. I've also noticed the discounts for Switch games aren't as good now that the pandemic has been over for a while, especially on first party games. I wish they would bring the Selects back and drop $20 off the price permanently.

DazaMc166d ago

It's about time for Arkanoids return!

Brazz165d ago

Scroll Wheel would be very cool. Legit great feature for games that need select skills, itens, weapons, etc.

Tacoboto165d ago

Especially if "next to the triggers" means clickable scroll wheels instead of bumpers/L1R1.

That would be so great for games where those buttons already bring up in-game select wheels

Knightofelemia165d ago

Was not one of my favorite consoles but the shit a person could do with it. A gameboy player was about the reason why I liked the GC. And taking it apart to clean it pretty simple I wish Nintendo would let the gameboy player work on the Switch.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Has Been Labelled A ‘Masterpiece’ By Super Smash Bros. Creator

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has spent his weekend playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and has come away more than a little impressed, labelling both games as masterpieces.

eagle21205d ago

Nice! I guess he considers them a "smashing" success. ;p

InUrFoxHole205d ago

Well played sir... well played!

CrimsonWing69205d ago

You win “comment of the day!”

Tzuno204d ago

He must be having quite a low standards when it comes to games
Saying that Reskin 2 is Masterpiece... lol

Dandizzle204d ago

salty much? SM2 is absolutely a masterpiece.

Unknown_Gamer5794204d ago

Just a troll who can’t handle MS taking third place yet again with 2023 exclusives, with their supposed “GotG” not getting the reception it was expected to. Nothing to see here.

GrizzliS1987204d ago

What does he know, 7/10 no name reviewers are much more credible.
Ps: starfield 10/10 easily

FinalFantasyFanatic204d ago

It's Sakurai, I think you need to learn your game developers better, in fact, he has a whole Youtube channel dedicated to game design. I think he knows a thing or two about what makes a good game.
