H1Z1 is playable through Steam, but still no Early Access launch date

I thought this game was a PS exclusive. Glad it gets out to more people by being on Steam.

Edit: reading up quickly on it. Is it coming to Steam 1st? This is the 1st time I heard any mention of Steam surrounding this game.

A PS4 version hasn't even been confirmed yet, but I'd say it's pretty likely to come eventually.

they say that for games that are make to work with PS4, a port from the PC could take a very short time. We're talking one to two months. It could be coming sooner than we think. but then again, they didn't focus on showing it in E3 which might mean that its still not close to release?

Early access for the PC version will probably happen before too long, a month or two, but I imagine they won't even start on a PS4 version until the main work on PS4's Planetside 2 is done. It's the same engine so that should benefit an H1Z1 port at least some.

It wasn't that long ago that they mentioned that nobody was working on a PS4 version yet. It was always coming to Steam first but god knows when the PS4 will get it.

Lol your info is a bit backwards. The game was originally only announced for the PC. It is now somewhat confirmed for the PS4 but not directly stated.

It's being made by SOE not SCE. SOE are in charge of making PC games first and far most.

Think about how long Planetside 2 has taken for the PS4 version.

H1Z1 will probably just take as long if not longer as it's still in pre alpha state when it arrives on PC via steam Early Access.

The game is a PC exclusive till they officially announce the PS4 version.

Planetside 2 uses this same engine though, so I would think the work on the PS4 version of that would speed up an H1Z1 port at least a little bit.

Not necessarily. It is SOE creating both games on the Forgelight engine but PS2 and H1Z1 have seperate teams working on them.

I think H1Z1 has only about 20+ people working on it atm.

That may be but what I'm saying is that when the major work on PS4's Planetside 2 is done, at least some of those people could help with H1Z1 and they'd already have a basic PS4 version of Forgelight to work with.

It hasn't even been announced officially for PS4 yet.

I do expect it to be on PS4 but maybe in a year or 2.

this is why i like SOE and their free to play games,
they shoot for quality and goals instead of timeframes.
shooting for timeframes is just setting yourself up for failure
