E3 2014: Where Are the Numbers?

GeekParty writes: "Microsoft’s E3 press conference had some seriously incredible things to show us. From a complete collection of Master Chief’s remastered adventures to a Crackdown title that potentially has a destructible open world, the games themselves seemed to be largely on point."

Trying to rebrand perhaps?

user14394142505d ago

Halo 5, Fable, CrackdowN, Forza Horizon good games and I love to see Microsoft pushing new boundaries and not being stuck in the past. XoXoXo

Pixel_Enemy2505d ago

Is this sarcasm? Every game you mentioned is from the past..

darthv722505d ago

They said this was going to be about games. I'd say they held to their word.

If they were to add in sales figures then it would be another 180 and I dont think they wanted to do that.

Its like because all they did was show games/ get those who condemn them for not talking about sales.

If they talked about sales then you would get those who would condemn them for going back on their word about this show is all about games.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Can't please everyone but from the games perspective I'd say they pleased most regardless of exclusive, indie, multi.

Infinite_Legion2505d ago

Didn't read the article did you... Didn't have anything to do with sales man they're talking about the new crackdown not showing as crackdown 3 but just crackdown, same with phantom dust

darthv722505d ago

@infinite, yes i read it. Its in relation to is x game #6 or 7 or 8 but even in movies they will tend to drop the numerical reference at some point.

it might come back but for now the games shown (without any numerical reference) should just be seen as they are. Neither reboot or sequel but just...existing in the game space under their announced title for now.

corvusmd2505d ago

If they talked about numbers the complaint would be they weren't talking about games... the conference is over...not E3

XiYakushijuAkeginuXi2505d ago (Edited 2505d ago )

Hmm, does it take more than a minute to say how much units your console sells?

Software_Lover2505d ago

Who gives a f' about sales. This was about games and letting you know some of the games they have coming up. That is all. They said they were gonna try something different before the conference.

Neonridr2505d ago

that's not what this article is talking about when it says numbers. Did you even bother to read it?

XiYakushijuAkeginuXi2505d ago

Yeah I actually read it prior to this post and yet am still confused by what they mean by numbers.

darthv722505d ago

"does it take a more than a minute..." when sony does their show, yes it will take several. They like talking numbers and market share.

When their numbers are lower than expected, they combine everything and talk about playstation (brand) in general. When the numbers are good they will focus on those good numbers.

sony has nothing to feel bad about. They are doing great. Not that they will change their tune this time and just focus on games but i am betting we will hear sales, new social apps/media features and games. The usual from them. hopefully more focus on the latter part (games) than anything else.

If they were proud of their numbers they would have announced them, even in passing. Like I've said before, MS sees what's going on even if some of their diehard fans refuse to see it.

Kingthrash3602505d ago

Lol OK. Incredible? no. Nice? yes.....honestly all multiplat games I saw...I said in the back of my mind "this will be better on ps4"... But that's just me. All the heavy hitters like halo crackdown for a were old news...halo needed gameplay crackdown was cool and forza was old news as I was nice, not amazing IMO.

Illusive_Man2505d ago (Edited 2505d ago )

How many exclusives do you think they should have shown. They showed 8 major exclusives and will have a ton of Indies on [email protected]

I counted 8 exclusives.

Sunset Overdrive
Halo MC Collection
Forza Horizons 2
Ori and the Blind Forest
Fable Legends
Phantom Dust
Crackdown 3

This doesn't even include Halo 5, Quantum Break, Gears, Ryse 2, and others.

Give me the bubbles. I spoke the truth and was very respectful about it.

Fact is MS said it would be about games and it was. They delivered. They have great exclusives coming in 2014 and 2015, and still a bunch of great titles beyond. They also have good exclusive 3rd party content. MS did a good job today.

Magicite2505d ago

Ryse 2? Who said there will be such?

NYC_Gamer2505d ago (Edited 2505d ago )

I don't wanna hear about numbers at any conference this year instead the focus should be on content

Captain Qwark 92505d ago

yeah i agree. i could care less about sales buuuut this e3 was solid but honestly nothing that surprising and the new announcements were just okay. i liked crackdown but i would have taken a real Rare game over that anyday

NatureOfLogic_2505d ago

Well it's easy to dismiss poor numbers. MS was bragging numbers all last gen. Poor numbers, no mention.

Captain Qwark 92505d ago

yeah but what consumer actually cares about numbers? is your day gonna be any better know they sold 2 million or 3 million? is it going to make you want the system more if you dont already have it? is it going to make the system better because it sold more?

the answer is no to all of those. it wont effect you in the slightest so why waste time with it?

MysticStrummer2505d ago

"yeah but what consumer actually cares about numbers?"

E3 is a trade show. Numbers get thrown around at trade shows, if they're numbers to be proud of. If not, they get swept under the rug.

Baccra172505d ago

I agree, I hate the numbers. Glad they were smart enough to leave that out, hope Sony does the same.

NatureOfLogic_2505d ago

Really? You want Sony to hold back their record setting numbers? smh

360ICE2505d ago

Sony is obviously gonna bring the numbers.

1. They always do.
2. They actually have great numbers now.

Clown_Syndr0me2505d ago

I hope not, that will be ever so boring.
As a gamer I want to see games, I hope they show non stop game trailers like MS did.
Id be interested in sales if I was an investor, but Im not.

Oh and the article isn't even about sales numbers, read it before you comment lol.

asmith23062505d ago

I can go to youtube to see non stop game trailers. I don't watch E3 to see the big three show off multiplats; I watch it to see what they have up their own sleeves and where they are going, how they are doing.

Besides, all the multiplats will be better on PS4 and the exclusives MS showed don't exactly get the blood pumping in anticipation. They are all either rehashes with nothing new, or average games at best.
