We can assume that the hype that was made for this event hasn't been met yet. The smaller titles are the ones that have been getting my attention the most. Ori and Inside look great.
Good conference because MS showed pure games, but not much really impressed me and most were multiplatform games that we already knew about... The only games that stood out in my eyes were INSIDE and that game from platinum games. I think Sony's conference will be the one to Whoa the crowd for sure this year.. again...
I don't expect it to run that high being a NEW game and not a remastered lastgen title. if you want 1080p 60fps consistency with the latest visuals, i suggest you to invest in a PC....otherwise keep dreaming, lol.
Good job MS! good to see the usual 3rd party love.
I'll be the first to say it. The conference was crap. If Sonys is disappointing to then for the next year I'll just stay playing Warframe and FF14. Oh Crack down looks so great and Sunset overdrive isn't a reskinned Rachet and Clank. Halo was the only good announcement but not enough for me to justify a X1 purchase.
@Lukas
Crackdown was never a good IP to me. I understand it is to some but not me. The same as fable, it you play it among other RPGs, there is no appeal. I would rather pump one hundred hours into FF14 that 100 hours into Fable. You know what im saying.
Inside just looks like you run around and sneak, it probably tells a great story but if I wanted that I'd read a book.
I wouldn't say "crap"; the Halo collection, Crackdown 3, Fable, Inside, FH2.....all looked great imo, but i can see why some people are disappointed in MS's conference. When i heard MS/Phil constantly say their conference will be about "the games", i was expecting those games to be new games, not multiplats and games we have already seen/know about.
Looks alright, hopefully it will be more like a TR game however the games name is horrible, sounds like another origin story, like what they could of called the reboot
Seems like they have the same voice actresses aswell, bit depressing but it was expected
I actually like her voice. There's a sense of vulnerability to it. What I enjoyed about the new Lara is how she just looks like a normal girl. Her experience shape her to become a stronger woman physically and mentally while still maintaining the vulnerable look. The only problem I had with the first game was the side characters but other than that I pretty much enjoyed it.
The voice is fine speaking normally but her shouting, arguing, screaming in pain....it sounds off. They should of made her older and gave her a more mature voice.
The actress did an excellent job as Lara in the reboot! whatcha talkin' about?! I actually felt her struggle throughout the game and was genuinely routing for her LOL! like saying stuff like "Come on Lara! we can do this! hang in there girl!"... and "Oooh damn, that must hurt"..
Aye as games go the voice acting in TR was superb. Conveyed real vulnerability and strength at the same time, and turned Lara into a great character. Some achievement given the source material...
Really disagree about the voice guys, she sounded way too young for her actual age. It's like she hadn't hit puberty yet
Not to mention those cringe worthy moments when she said something to herself like
"Oh I hate Tombs"
The voice acting was pretty average to be honest and her character development was hardly there for a supposed origin story. They should of just had Lara get shipwrecked on the island, not her friends as it wasted time focusing on them when you could of slowly seen her development on screen instead of becoming Rambo in like 10 minutes.
I don't mind the name or the continued focus on origin. For those who are concerned with the portrayal of women in games, I think this series is doing a fantastic job of taking steps in this respect. The portrayal of a female investigator/fighter is all well-and-good, but the serious and sustained development of a female as a female-in-development portrays her as human, as a person subject to personal engagement.
And for those who don't care about women in gaming, the development of a personality over the course of a series of games is - to me at least - a fascinating idea. In this respect, this series is far more meaningful than Uncharted (I cite Uncharted because TR is primarily compared to it).
Like @dboyc310, I like the voice actress. I haven't watched the video yet, so perhaps I'll agree with you on instances of her acting (shouting and such). But in general, I'm a fan.
I love this new Lara. Her character is so well made and I truly hope that this time along we are introduced to new characters that have a similar depth to them. I'm psyched to see more.
She goes from an inncocent inexperienced girl to Rambo in minutes, they could of taken it slow if they didn't make it into a over the top third peron action shooter....which is why i wanted it more like a puzzle/survival game.
In that I agree. The whole transition to survivor didn't feel as real. For example in Far Cry 3 the way the character built throughout the game actually felt real to me because of the good use of the skill set which wasn't really emphasize in Tomb Raider.
To be fair they do take the time to explain how her father has been training her in survival and hunting for her entire life, so it isn't really "inexperienced to Rambo"... It's a very capable woman driven by desperation to realise her strength.
I really liked the game, my only criticism really is that "oh no i'm falling down a natural slide" was over-used, and some of the progression-gates felt cheesy (like the roped posts and targets for roped arrows).
I don't see why they keep calling this Tomb Raider. This is just some girl named Loro Craft going around putting thousands of bullets into people & animals for experience.
"I don't see why they keep calling this Tomb Raider."
Because Tomb Raider will sell better than Unmapped: Among Thugs.
The last one wasn't very Tomb Raiderish. I still haven't mustered the willpower to fight my boredom and finish it so I hope they get it right this time.
I personally can't wait. Loved her characterization from the first game. It makes total sense for her to be in therapy after the first game. Lara never had time to process her descent into a darker except for the time spent at the camps. She mentioned it very briefly in her journals. The title alone makes it seem that she will finally embrace her role and an adventurer.
More tomb-raiding, puzzles, and exploration please. I don't mind the new combat system but I hope the developers strike a balance between combat and actual adventuring.
I knew it was this the moment she screamed, it was the exact same sound effect as the last game, lol.
MS are showing more multiplats than i thought they would though....I want more IP's and exclusives!

Rise of the Tomb Raider- so the sequel of the prequel !
