Mario Kart 8 outsells Infamous/Titanfall, Wii U sales jump, E3 Predictions - Week in Review 6/7/14

Mario Kart actually did better than I expected. I expected about half a million in the first week.

So how many Wii U's did it sell? must have been a lot.

187,000 last week and that was in 3 days of the game being released, not even a full week

It's Mario...The last Wii version sold about 33 million so it is no surprise it is selling like hot cakes. The Mario Kart 8 deluxe bundle is sold out everywhere in my area and even Gamestop.com is sold out of it. And to think Nintendo games, especially Mario Kart, traditionally have long legs and will sell throughout the entire life cycle of a console, it is only the beginning, folks. Greatly deserved too!

I got the Limited Edition myself from my trip to NYC. That was a tough stay, but I stuck it out and got my blue shell trophy lol. I also got my Wii U the other day (decided not to go for the bundle and found a nice deal at Target). So far I've been loving it. So glad it's helping Wii U sales. :)

I knew this would happen, i love all the platforms and have all 3, but its a shame a lot of retailers lost hope in Wii U, Mario Kart 8 will be the catalyst to a better future hopefully

Kinda bittersweet for me since I actually really like Titanfall. But hey, Mario Kart 8 is definitely a success! Nice to see Wii U getting a much needed boost.

Great game and a great console.

The last console from Nintendo I owned was the Gamecube, hoping the library for the Wii U ends up somewhat similar :)

Also hoping for the first time ever for DLC for MK8! New characters, trophies cups and perhaps battle mode maps would be great

Correction Mario Cart 8 has only sold roughly around 1.12m globally and Infamous Second Son (1.36m) + Titanfall (1.84m) combined have sold 3.2m globally. Not sure how the math makes Mario Cart 8 the higher selling title here regardless its still a good game. Given there are about 6 million Wii Us world wide its gonna be hard for it to reach the sells numbers from the past titles.

The numbers in question are from this week. Not the whole lifespan(Although Mario Kart 8 easily has the potential to outsell both combined over it's lifespan). Please pay attention to the content of the video next time.

That's assuming that the bundles for the game don't boost the numbers of the Wii U high enough.

It's already the second-fastest-selling title in the franchise despite the lower install base.
If enough bundles sell, then the game as well as the install base may increase enough to make it the third or even second-best-selling game in the franchise overall.

I assume they mean Titanfall Xbox One anf not all 3 versions combined.

With inFamous, it's unexpected. The PS4 is at 7 million, the Wii U is at 6 million. What PS4 owner doesn't have Infamous?

I'm actually on the fence about owning Second Sons, personally.

I liked the first one, and the second one was really good.
Up until the ending, that is.

I'll just say this: You become a mass murderer no matter which side you choose.
The only difference is whether you live and do the murdering by hand and everyone that doesn't have powers hates you, or die and do the murdering by nuke and everyone that doesn't have powers loves you.

After an ending like that, and the glimpses of the newest one I've seen.....
I don't have high hopes.
In fact I'd almost say that Saint's Row 4 looks like a more entertaining super-powered-man romp than the newest Infamous, but only ALMOST, because I haven't seen all that the new Infamous has to offer and therefore can't conclusively say which will be better.
I might rent Infamous 3 later just to see, but I doubt I'll spend full price for it.

Both endings are better than both endings from inFamous 2. As for the mass murderer thing... to quote Review Tech USA "This (the controller) is not a subsitute for a gun." It's a VIDEO GAME. Test show few people who kill in video games are mass murderers in real life. Killing in a video game is NOT the same thing for real life!

You misinterpreted my meaning.
I wasn't upset with the ending because you were killing, I was upset with them because there was no other option other than killing millions of one side or the other.
Why couldn't he have worked longer and harder to save more people on both sides?
Why couldn't he have begun searching for a new cure when the first one turned out to be a weapon of mass destruction, or looked for a way to turn the disease that was killing off normal humans into one that would give them all powers in exchange for placing them all into a state where they were dependent on him to keep the powers from consuming them?(last bit obviously evil ending alternative)

It just seemed lazy, to me, to give the player no alternative in the end aside from choosing which side lived and which side died.
There was potential for so much more.

i was shocked to see my self buy a Wii U for MK8 considering i never owned a Nintendo console or never played any of the previous Mario Karts; no regrets compliments my PC&PS4
