"LeVar Burton, the star of the PBS educational show Reading Rainbow wants to bring the series to videogame consoles. The Kickstarter campaign has already reached $1 million." writes Chris Fleck.
I hope it comes to the PS4. it was one of my fav shows as a kid.
AWESOME! http://www.hulu.com/watch/2... ^ Best version of Reading Rainbow ever.
I would love for this to be true. Loved Reading Rainbow as a kid. Sweet childhood memories. Butterfly in the sky I can go twice as high Take a look It's in a book A Reading Rainbow I can go anywhere Friends to know And ways to grow A Reading Rainbow I can be anything Take a look It's in a book A Reading Rainbow A Reading Rainbow
Well just so people know, this is not to make a new show. This is to create an app and bring Reading Rainbow to schools and children who have trouble reading. It seems like a huge majority of people think he is bringing the show back but that is not what the project was about if they read the kickstarter.
YESS! Butterfly in the sky I can go twice as high Take a look It's in a book A Reading Rainbow I can go anywhere Friends to know And ways to grow A Reading Rainbow I can be anything Take a look It's in a book A Reading Rainbow A Reading Rainbow
Memories of my childhood just skeeted in. Thanks lol.
Happened to me when I first saw this topic, haha! As a 23-year-old male, I'm very excited for this and am hoping it'll happen, haha! I'll no-life it like I had with the Magic School Bus last year.
Wow I just posted this too, didn't realize you have posted it. Either way, this would be so awesome if true.
"Just take a look, it's in a video game, it's Reading Rainbow"..... Just doesn't have the same ring to it.... Anyway this is awesome, I look forward to learning how to read again :P
I'm glad they met the Kickstarter goal, very impressed on how fast it made the goal.
I'm sure they'll reach $5 million in the next couple of days. I could only give $35.
Good! Kids are playing video games too much these days. This will be a great way to get them to interact with reading.
Remember when your parents told you to read instead of playing your game console?
Not mine :^)
You lucky schmuck! :)
Next time I get paid I'll donate :D
Felt great to donate to this kickstarter. It'great for everyone and not just for personal use. I'm looking to donate more on each paycheck till the kickstarter goes off.
I grew up watching show..I enjoyed the original Intro though pre 1999.. https://www.youtube.com/wat...
edit: Nevermind. I assumed PBS owned rights to the show and adding KS to their massive list of income streams (ads, gov, grants, "viewers like you", etc, etc) seemed silly. Pretty ambitious project for this guy to undertake. BTW, US literacy is 99% ( https://www.cia.gov/library... ). IDK what manipulation was used to make that BS 1/4 child illiteracy figure.
And yes, I'm aware that those are figures for people 15 and older. I don't buy that 24% of Americans aren't learning to read until they're 15 or older.
Reading rainbow, now that bring back memories from my childhood days. So I'm guessing this is like wounder book 2.0 or something. this should be interesting
Levar Burton is great, i'm happy that the show is coming back.
Pretty random but cool. No doubt it will reach the $5 million.
