"Sex is something that is ever-present in our everyday lives. From advertising, to movies and even our video games, sex and sexual content is all around us. Even though these sorts of things are all everywhere we look, there are ways to go about it that show some sort of taste and class. The problem in Wolfenstein: The New Order? It lacks both of those."
Fanatical has launched its new Explosive bundle, and this one can help you save big on a collection of Steam Deck-compatible titles.
Wolfenstein: The New Order turns ten years old today, so we decided to play it again and discovered just how much of an extinct kind of game it is.
It's an outstanding game and so was The Old Blood. Also a lost era of gaming. Interesting, I received a physical copy of The Old Blood 9 years ago today from Poland. It was digital only in North America initially upon release so I had to import.
Wolfenstein: The New Order launched 10 years ago today, but can it stand up to the modern FPS titles it inspired?
I disagree. Its still a fantastic game, with very good gunplay and a surprisingly loveable cast of characters and a good story trough many different and interesting setpieces
All The New Order needs for my tastes is a this gen enhancement patch.
I played New Order a couple of years after launch and I give it an 8/10. The shooter holds up because it is focused on being a good shooter. There is no crafting, no RPG elements, no open world find the question mark Weapons are fun. Enemies are fun. Levels offer a nice mix of stealth and shooting. You get to be the predator; this isn’t a game about fending off waves of enemies while a robot companion unlocks a door. Most importantly, New Order is the last of a dying breed of single player shooters.
Weird all the Wolfenstein articles.
Can you guess what will be announced at Xbox showcase?
What Machine Games did with Wolfenstein franchise is awesome. The game play definitely to me , is still very fun to play !!!
Sex isn't about taste or class a lot of the time. It's about fun and relief.
If an outsider looks in and uses "sex can be fun" as a reason to dislike gaming, then they don't deserve our attention. We shouldn't create games that cater to what outsiders want to see. We should cater it to represent things as they are. Just like in movies, books, and TV.
And, again, we're focusing on sex scenes in a game where we're blowing everything up and stabbing people in the neck. I think if you talk about one, you gotta talk about the other. And, we've already determined that violence in games is as it is.
So, while I get where you're coming from on a personal level. What you describe as being "casual" references to sex akin to those in horror movies are no less wrong here than any movie that shows a sex scene to begin with. The game itself is about fun, not about being serious. So, it should go to show that the sex scenes are handled in a similar light.
There are no rules. Only repercussions.
The sex in Wolfenstein fit the character's personality and situation perfectly. Maybe lighten up your strangely unrealistic Judeo-Christian values and have some wild sex for a change. As if they depicted something repulsive like gang bangs and bukkake scenes. The only two characters sexually involved were in love and frustrated in every possible way. Stick to Reading Rainbow and Teletubbies if it bothers you so much. You want to protest something protest extremely hardcore underground porn or some other real issue. This is just annoying and a waste of time. Wolfenstein even depicted equal power/balance between the female and male roles. Neither was more dominant for the sake of it at any time. It came off as natural and fun and realistic as it needed to be.
I think you have it completly wrong. The sex scenes in this game were actually some of the best I saw. I think theres something very wrong in your arguments and its the love part. There is no need for full blown love in order for sex to happen. We are not living in the 60's anymore. A guy and a girl who feel like it can have casual sex, they will pleasure each other and thats about it. No need for "love", or the need to spend the rest of their years together.
Now, having said this, the BAD way to showcase casual sex wouldv been to show the guy "charming" or "forcing" the girl into having sex with him. In BOTH scenes, it was Anya who asked for it, because SHE wanted to have sex, and not because the "typical hetero male hero" can have sex with whoever he wants. It showcased in a very mature way that women WANT sex as well, and they CAN have sex WHEN they want it, and not because the hero asks for it. Therefore, I think it was done in a very good way. In fact, in the second scene, it was Blazcovisk who said something romantic, saying that he wants their relationship to last forever. They completly switched the usual roles in sex, and it was very well done.
You gotta stop thinking about sex = love. It doesn't. YES, loving someone makes the sex better for some people, or straight up makes the sex POSSIBLE for some people (Depending on your beliefs), but sex is also possible without any feeling other than pleasuring yourself and the person you are having sex with.
Inhale. Count to four. Exhale. Count to four.
I saw nothing wrong with the two sex scenes in Wolfenstein. One was meant to be like a stress relief to the characters and the other was comical. No different from movies. I think people today are too sensitive. It's like things aren't controversial unless the media makes a big deal of it. Most people probably don't even care
