Remakes and Remasters: When Are They Acceptable?
Thirty-Thousand Polygons: With the ushering in of the 8th console generation, we have seen an influx of remakes and re-mastered games for each console. The Last of Us, Metro 2033, Metro Last Light, Tomb Raider, and others have seen a second life on these new systems. Most of these titles are met with skepticism and negativity from the gaming community. It is seen as a way of “double dipping” or cash grabbing by the developers and publishers. These views seem to sway by how long between the original release and the release of the remake and pricing. “Why would I buy an old game at full price?!” is a question asked by many, but it is an ignorant view held by many gamers these days.
