Graphic novels ?

I doubt, that this game will ever come to the western side.

ceedubya93772d ago

If they do, and at reasonable prices, then I will surely buy them.

pedrof933772d ago

Don't buy games for the sake of simply buying them.

Believe this japanese graphic novels aren't really for us, I've tried some.

Gazondaily3772d ago

Meh...not my cup of tea tbh. Give me a proper JRPG any day.

Also, my days to the Japanese get away with a lot of dodgy pics (or what we would consider dodgy).

Here we have social warriors screaming injustice over comparatively minor issues.

ceedubya93772d ago

I like graphic novels and games like this, so I'm looking forward to these

DigitalRaptor3772d ago

@ Septic

I wonder, are Microsoft expecting games like this to make an impression in Japan when games like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey didn't?

They must be biding their time for the announcement of that third party Japanese exclusive that's in the works, which may do something for them. It may end up being Shenmue III (doubtful) or a Platinum game (more likely).

theshonen88993771d ago

@Septic Your pic, ironically, isn't even remotely dodgey. If your idea of dodgey is a backshot of a mini-skirt then I imagine Senran Kagura or Akiba Trip would make your eyes bleed out of their sockets.

Timed exclusive. I'm calling it.

DemonChicken3771d ago

Big thing in Japan but this will seriously tank if not released in the West which I doubt it will be anyway due to market. As from past experiences and current poll from dualshockers, doesn't seem the people in Japan is interested.

Meaning less sales = less of these type of games in the future =p

Looks like Japanese shovelware.

matrixman923772d ago

i dont think u realize how popular these are among japanese audiences. It would probably even sell a decent amount in the rest of the world

Scatpants3772d ago

Just because it's popular doesn't make it not shovelware.

JasonKCK3772d ago

Do you even understand what shovelware is?

styferion3772d ago (Edited 3772d ago )

@scatpants: just because you're close-minded doesn't mean everything outside your knowledge are shovelware... oh sorry, that's how close-minded people think, my bad.

and by the way, 5pb is quite known for their great story, sorry you're not that into games to even bother..

Scatpants3772d ago

The problem is they are inside my knowledge thats how I know they are shovelware. This is a slideshow of static images with text that could be developed in less than a month, but I'm sure it will be sold for full price. That's the definition of Shovelware, a low budget crappy game strictly made to cash in. If you want to pay $40 bucks to read a "great story" which I doubt it actually is then go for it, but I prefer some sort of value for my gaming dollar.

Spotie3772d ago

They're shovelware because you're ignorant. I was never a fans of Chaos;Head, but I love Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes by the same company. Great stories and characters within.

But of course, you know that since you know the history, right?

corvusmd3772d ago

Based on the little that we have seen, these games aren't exactly my cup of tea, but it appears that MS is trying to gain an audience with the Japanese market. I'm not really sure if this kind of thing appeals to Japanese gamers, but I do know that Japanese gamers have their own style and it's not like us western gamers.

Abriael3772d ago

Actually from what I'm reading it's more a choice of the developer. Makoto Asada really seems to love the Xbox brand, and most of his latest games have been on Xbox 360 first.

Clogmaster3772d ago

That's a strange business decision given how unpopular Xbox is in Japan. Guess the requirements for profit aren't as high?

Concertoine3772d ago (Edited 3772d ago )

I'm guessing MS charges an extremely small licensing fee in Japan, and for how few hardware sales there are there, there's still a decent amount of software and a high attach ratio.

The 360 in Japan is quite strange, there's a freakin' TON of bullet hell shooters. If you ask me, the obscure Japanese support it does get is the among the most overlooked content this gen, for obvious reasons.

christocolus3772d ago (Edited 3772d ago )

@corvus

I agree, the japanese do have a very unique taste and i hope MS invests in some huge japanese ips like they did with original xbox and the 360.I enjoyed many of those titles looking forward to more of them this gen.

OT: I think phil said they had one major exclusive for the japanese launch, titles like this one will be there to fill the void between the major releases and I don't think these type games will be priced at $59.99

truefan13772d ago

I have no idea what to expect from these games, but those screenshots look really nice. If they come west, I'll try probably try at least one of them out. Great to see some variety joining the XB1 catalog.

Godmars2903772d ago

This is about the same as what was tried with the 360, only more localized and - for now - scaled back.

It would be as damaging if as with the 360 MS loses interest or there are PS4, and PCs, versions with more content later.

Still waiting on the Steam patch from Committee of Zero, hopefully it comes out soon as November is almost over and I'm kinda itching to experience the difference between the regular edition and Noah.

Yui_Suzumiya671d ago (Edited 671d ago )

Yeah, I talked to a guy from the project and they're testing it out right now. I just have the Steelbook version for Switch and I'm looking forward to experiencing all the endings now since the bug is fixed.

jznrpg671d ago (Edited 671d ago )

I won’t buy these games because the Switch pisses me off . After playing Xenoblade 3 and it kept crashing on me during effect intensive battles I really am starting to dislike it . Make something with some decent power .. it’s frustrating in 2022 my game keeps crashing because it can’t handle PS3 level graphics . I already own Child on PS they should release Noah on PS5 . I own the OLED mode and it shouldn’t be crashing when I’m fighting 4-5 mobs

Chaos;Child Review [Capsule Computers]

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:

"For many, Japanese visual novels tend to be a genre that can be hit or miss. This is primarily due to the fact that there are so many out there and until about five or six years ago the titles that were translated into English only fell into the adult category. That has since changed and now numerous classic visual novels have been given official English releases with the Science Adventure series containing the Steins;Gate games being seen as some of the best. Now after a console release Chaos;Child has made its way to PC. Being part of a franchise that hasn’t been entirely translated and the sequel to a game that was never officially released in English outside of an anime adaptation may put Chaos;Child as a tough start but does it turn out to be worth your time?"
