Top 25 GameCube Games

Nintendo's purple lunch box served up a stack of great games (which are all backwards compatible on Wii). Here's GameDaily's list for the top 25 games you should enjoy (or enjoy again).

No Tales of Symphonia? No Baten Kaitos 1 or Baten Kaitos Eternal Wings? No Fire emblem? No Paper Mario Thousand Years Door? that list fails on RPGs.

The only games on there that I own are Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil (which by far surpassed the original IMO), and MGS: Twin Snakes (and yes, I liked the update, and it ran better, despite fanboy wailing.)

Eternal Darkness is one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had. Thank you Gamecube. :)

Eternal Darkness was amazing game, and although it got rave reviews, the sales numbers were very low. That game along with many other Nintendo's Gamecube-era hc games that flopped, made Nintendo choose between dying away or going casual. I'm glad they went casual, because the other alternative would have sucked.

The casual strategy has made a lot of money for Nintendo, so maybe they invest some of the money in making new hardcore IPs for the Wii. After all, Shigeru has said that he still likes making hc games. Not saying that SSBB, SMG or MP3 aren't great, just that it'd be great to see some new franchises.

Since the wii allows you to play all GC games + wii games (obviously) from a technical standpoint the wii is better... But the wii itself and its titles do not compare to last gen... Last gen Ninty catered to the gamers... This gen they are a big bunch of sellouts and even though the gamecube saleswise failed in comparison to ps2 and x-box it had a nice exclusive line up and some of the best games of last gen... This gen the tides have turned... Nintendo are dominating and putting out garbage games... At least last gen we was getting the highest quality titles... O well Ninty enjoy being sellouts...

I love how now you all say that the gamecube is one of the best consoles that nintendo has released, but you don't do so to make gamecube shine, but to make wii look bad.

I bet that back in the day, you said otherwise, that n64 had a WAAAAAYYYYYY BETTER LINE UP than cube and that cube was for kids, and it was purple and had a handle and ZOMG no ONLINE gamez.

For every gamecube game on that list, there are wii games that are better most of the times.

Cube had Alien Hominid? wii has Metal Slug Anthology (6 metal slug games)

24. Mk Double dash? wii has Mario Kart Online

23. SS tricky? that wasn't exclusive, and wii has Excite Truck and Wii Sports for those quickey "Sports games"

22. Mario Sunshine? LOL Wii has Mario Galaxy, best game of 2007.

21. Viewtiful Joe? wii has Lost Winds (innovative sidescroller)

20. Pikmin? Wii has elebits.

19. Monkey Ball? wii's monkey ball is better

18. Luigi Mansion? Wii has Zack and Wiki

17. Metal Arms Glitch in the system? wii has Batallion Wars.

16. Metroid Prime 2? Wii has Metroid Prime 3, so there.

15. Eternal Darkness? you got me here yeah :(, only thing I can mention is Manhunt 2 and that is not exclusive and isn't near the level of ED never ever. But there is hope on Disaster: Day of Crisis, alone in the dark wii, and fatal frame wii.

14. Ikaruga? wii has castle of shikigami III wich is one of the classics of Shooters too.

13. F-Zero GX? you got me here again, the closest thing I can mention is Excite Truck, and that will never be in the same league as F-Zero, there is hope we get a Wii F-Zero, we will surely do though, with online probably.

12. Prince of Persia? LOL that was not Exclusive, and what about if I say...... NO MORE HEROES? owned.

11. Beyond Good and Evil? again not exclusive, so what about if I say OKAMI? I can right? pwned.

10. Soulcalibur 2? well its hard here, will depend on tastes, I would rather Guilty Gear XX Accent core and DBZ Tenkaichi 3 any time of the day and twice on weekends, but I guess that will depend on fighitng game tastes since the 3 games are different, we are not getting SC4 though :(.

9. Zelda TP? well wii has the superior version.

8. StarWars? got me here again, the closest I can mention is that new Starwars force game, and it wouldn't count because its not a flight/shooter game. But its SW at least.

7. MGS TS? I GOT OWNED HERE, can't mention anything from wii that comes close to the masterpiece this game is. Sorry for mii.

6. Animal Crossing? I think there is one for wii, not sure though.

5. MP1? Well, MP3 is the best one, but if I have to mention a good shooter, ( I know I know MP is not a shooter, its FPA) but Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is a really good wii game with the best FPS controls around and a really good online mode.

4. REmake? damn, the closest I can get here is Umbrella Chronicles, there are a lot of upcoming horror wii games, madworld (more liek action), alone in the dark, fatal frame and Disaster, but I mentioned those already.

3. SSBM? Brawl. Both are excellent games, But I think brawl exceeds since its more balanced and has online (a hassle to make it work properly but its there) and a lot of fan service and depth.

2. Wind waker? I would mention the Next Kid Icarus or the next wii specific zelda, but that is not confirmed yet, so you win here.

1. RE4? Wii have the superior version

So as you can see wii got more points, so please stop downplaying wii just to be on the bandwagon, also you are comparing 5 years of cube versus 1 year and half of wii, wich is not fair, you should compare them equally. But in the end, the wii is traveling a better road than cube. Cube was excellent though. But wii has a cube inside so there.

most of the games mentioned, i agreed with. Other than Alien Hominid and that little robot game, I agree with completely that they were fun and addicting games. I guess a matter of opinion, but i think Melee can destroy brawl any day. I bought Brawl and played it like crazy with friends the first two weeks and was enjoying it, now it's just collecting dust. I personally don't feel it is no where near melee (except that I am surely one of the few that enjoyed SSE and thought it was near perfection).

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door belongs on that list in my opinion.

I don't know why there is frequently such disdain for 1080 Avalanche. If you want a tricks game you probably won't like it- instead it's a great racer with multiple routes- each course is very different from the last with set pieces and the graphics are great.
