Nintendo Among The Worst Performers In The Slavery Index

Who are the worst offenders when it comes to paying workers a decent wage for creating the products we buy and use on a daily basis?

A new analysis by Baptist World Aid Australia took 39 of the world’s leading companies and examined their history on multiple different issues: wages, policies on forced labour, child labour and use of unpaid contractors in an attempt to see which companies were living up to their responsibilities, and which were neglecting them.

It turns out that Nintendo were among the worst, scoring an overall D in the index.

I think its really payback time against Nintendo.
They are also the worst offenders when it comes to environmental safety.

I knew there was something behind their under powered over priced hardware strategy with the 3DS and Wii U. That backfired on them.
Well they reap what they sow.

3ds and Wii U were both sold for a loss. how can something be simultaneously overpriced and sold at the company's expense? I find it funny how a random analysis site giving Sony a bad credit rating and forseeing bankruptcy is automatically discredited, but another company giving Nintendo an equally arbitrary "grade/rating" on another topic is impeccable. The way i see it, theyre both wrong. Nintendo might not be as fun as Disneyland like some would hope, but describing it as slavery is a bit far.
Also Nintendo's environmental status is defined as "bad", because they refuse to submit a report or allow one to be conducted. Not because they were found to be environmentally malicious. In fact the Wii U is almost 1/8 of the Xbone at full steam and 1/6 of the PS4. They're the only ones that managed to make a console that IMPROVED over the last in terms of power consumption this gen.

Weak argument about power consumption. That's like a factor that most people don't consider when buying electronics. Most people don't even know what it means in terms how much it will cost on their electricity bill, so don't come with some weak excuse about how it's the only system that improved. Because it's innate nature is weak so of course it will have less power usage.

3DS and WiiU sold at a loss but barely. They never sold at a loss like PS2 and PS3. Something like $200-$300 loss.

Just face it, the facts have piled up and Nintendo is the most greedy company of the big 3.

Supposedly they profit the most but choose to bring out the weakest hardware of the big 3. Greedy Confirmed! Supposdedly the profit the most but choose not to pay money for multiplats and exclusive 3rd party games.

Concertoine1615d ago (Edited 1615d ago )

...but its still an environmental aspect of the console. Thus a relevant point when someone brings up their environmental record, no? And its comparatively weak to the other next gen hardware, but its a freakin POWERHOUSE to the Wii, yet Nintendo managed to outclass it in power consumption as well as the other hardware from 8 years ago.
So a product that the company is paying more to manufacture than YOU are to play it for a number of years is overpriced. Who's the greedy one again?
If anything, theyre greedy because they have an actual sense of self-preservation. This gen went on for so long because Sony and MS took huge losses and reduced the financial worth of PS and Xbox to scrap and didnt start making pennies until 6-7 years later. Real healthy for the industry. The PS4 and Xbox One are sold at the smallest loss of any other console those companies put out, guess theyre getting greedy too huh?
Im not saying Nintendo isnt greedy, they just run things different, (like theyre the only ones not charging a subscription fee) and the technical jargon of a console doesnt constitute its worth to me, but what new things and experiences it brings. For that, a Wii U which costs a mere $100 bucks (at the most) more than 8 year old hardware despite being significantly more powerful and offering a completely different experience, is a damn steal.

You obviously shouldn't be talking because you didn't even read the article. Nintendo's console is actually the best in environmental energy consumption. There was no report that was why -_- geez

Asus!!! :(
Microsoft has a B+ which makes me feel better about paying for Windows 8...

adorie1615d ago

Makes me feel better for having paid for Win 7 64bit. :P

No_Limit1615d ago

Microsoft scores a B+
Sony scores a C
Nintendo scores a D

Who would have thought!

Concertoine1615d ago

They like to hate on hardware manufacturing companies because the menial task of working in a factory apparently needs more pay. MS outsources most of their manufacturing so the shame is placed on those people instead.

PotatoAsylum1615d ago (Edited 1615d ago )

Nintendo fanboy:
''Nintendo is doing things differently. Slavery is innovation. Exploitative practices are unique. Nintendo scored an outright ‘F’ for failing to have a single policy that helped enable workers to bargain, to have a living wage, or to prevent child labour from occurring. That's why Pikimin 3 was so good. Stop bullying Nintendo. Nintendo knows best, Sony Phonies. I don't play graphics, I play Pikimin 3.''

KonsoruMasuta1615d ago (Edited 1615d ago )

Really? Funny. I don't see one person here saying anything along those lines?

So where did you cook that one up?

Did you have a deep conversation with a Nintendo fan before he brought up those exact words? No?

Did you make that all up? Yeah.

There are two possibilities.

1) You're talking to imaginary people.

2) You pulled that out of nowhere.

If it's the first one, get help. If it's the second one, stop trying to start a flame war.... and get help.

AsimLeonheart1615d ago

I have been on this website for 8 years and TBH that is the attitude I have often seen from Nintendo fans. He obviously used that imaginary dialogue as an analogy but it is spot on. Nintendo is like a god for most of their fans; Nintendo can do no wrong. If tomorrow Nintendo started their former love hotel business then that would become a virtue. If tomorrow they started punching babies and kicking puppies then it would be the best and most "fun" thing to do for Nintendo fans. They NEVER admit that Nintendo may be wrong or can make a mistake.

Only a slave could make the same games over and over again for decades now. That and you captured the enablers/cultist mentality very well PotatoAsylum.
