Jaunt VR CEO: "Facebook got a great deal" on Oculus Buyout

VRFocus - Jens Christensen, CEO of cinematic virtual reality (VR) company has said that the thinks social network giant Facebook 'got a great deal' when it purchased Oculus Rift VR headset makers Oculus VR for $2 billion USD in March 2014. Christensen said as much speaking at this week's Silicon Valley Virtual Reality (SVVR) Conference & Expo, looking at how the technology will be adopted over the course of the next five years.

The story is too old to be commented.

As long as FB lets Oculus commit to its orginial purpose while also expanding in the future I wont mind, plus the billions in backings can sure lend a hand with R & D. Im still very wary of FB acquisitioning Oculus, so far Instagram and Whatsapp have acted pretty independently even though being under FB's banner.

If I were the Occulus people I would have secretly sold Facebook the Prototype version, while at the same time keep the " Good version " for myself.

Sell it to FB, then start a new company and compete against them directly with your superior technology.

Have any of you thought about it like this ?

* They have the understanding of how the tech works, so it wouldn't take them that long to start again.

* Then I would sell that tech to Microsoft and then they will have more money than they know what to do with, but at the same time, they would have pulled one over on FB & Microsoft.

Just what I would have done.

I wonder how they are going to solve the demo issue. To me, that is one of the biggest hurdles, beyond the engineering side of things.
