GameDaily gave GTA a "Perfect 10", then tell us they don't want to play it anymore.

GameDaily reviewed GTA IV and gave it a "perfect 10", but have since written an article entitled "Why We Stopped Playing GTA IV".

Are they telling us that this game, which they called "one for the history books", gets tiresome to the point of not wanting to play it any more, after only a month?

I am at 32% done (23 hours of game play)and haven't played it in 2 weeks,,,The most tiring part is when you fail a mission you have to get in the car again and drive all the way to the mission and start the mission.

To be honest driving controls suck,,I know it tries to be realistic, but realistic is not always fun.they should make driving fun for a game that you spend half of the game in the car.

I haven't played since 6 days after it came out. I played through the main story (23:30, 60something percent) and since then, never played again. I agree the game was overrated and I am one of those who bought into the hype.
IMO, it's a solid 8.5/10. There is much new stuff I love but also lot of things I miss from the other GTAs.

But shhhhh, we are "haters" who just want to be cool when we say that we didn't think it deserved straight 10s.

If you give GTA IV an 8 or 9 instead of a 10 I wouldn't say that means it's overrated. But I agree that it doesn't deserve all the 10s it got. When I got San Andreas for the PS2 I also got Halo 2 and I hardly played Halo 2. All I played for weeks was San Andreas. It was a great game. I've been playing GTA IV but not a lot. I'll get back into it but it hasn't really interested me the way San Andreas or even GTA 3 and Vice City did.

...GTAIV offered nothing substantially new in the gameplay department. So you could access the internet in the game - big deal, its not like you had to hack into a security system or look up building schematics. I got bored with the missions as all they did was to get you to travel to different parts of the next-gen liberty city.

Speaking of the new and improved liberty city - I didn't think it looked all that good. Jaggies, framerate drops, everything (apart from cars) was basically indestructible. Sure it was an improvement over previous GTA releases but it was not as good as I had been hoping. Oh and if I were to score multiplayer separately I'd give it 6/10. A crap lobby system, sluggish framerate and nothing that really made good use of the environment.

Unless GTAV actually injects some much needed new life and visual prowess into the series I'll be steering well clear.

GTA4 does not deserve a 10. The story is good at best. Missions become repetitive and dull and online is slow. Everyone I know has played the game for few hours and put it away with no incentive to come back. I personally stopped enjoying the GTA series after Vice City.

I just recently finished GTA4. I do not understand how this game got 10/10 across the board because it is not perfect. Actually, it's far from it. But I still enjoyed the game for what it was.

Will I still be playing this game now? I may go back to pick up the final pigeons and complete the races/jobs I did not complete during the story just because I am a completest. But once I am through with that this game is going on the shelf. The multiplayer is not nearly as fun as they said it would be. MGS4 is right around the corner...I doubt I'll have enough time for another game the month of June/early July.

This game gets an 8.5 from me. Fun, but it could have been so much more.

You see the problem is that when a journalist submits a review, it reflects the opinion of the entire site, which is why reviews are reviewed by the entire team to make sure they all somewhat agree and would like that review to reflect everyones opinion. People are comparing the game to San Andreas, when it should be compared to GTA III. SA ran on an engine that was already perfected, and Rockstar was able to throw everything including the kitchen sink into the game. GTA 4 had to be built from the ground up, and so some sacrifices were made to finish the game without spending millions more or another 1-2 years in development.

What did I think of the game? I thought it was very good at the beginning, but like the rest of you the game became dull after the story. I'd rate it a 9.2-9.5. If you hate the lack of features IV had, then the next GTA will be able to have more options since the engine(s) will have already be established and the developers will know what to improve.

People should play the game before buying it if they are skeptical of the hype, I know I will be more careful.

On a side note, never been a MGS fan but MGS4 looks like it will be worth a rent.

The 10/10 reviews that Metal Gear Solid 4 is getting is actually a deserved 10/10 review score. MGS4 will have better graphics than GTA4, it will definantly have a better story, and it will definantly be an overrall better game. Despite all of those bugs like pop-in in GTA4, it still got 10/10's, what a shame. GTA4 was nothing but hype and I wasn't impressed with it as much as I thought that I would be.

GTA:SA and GTA4 were both held to a DVD9 standard. Why was there more content and a bigger city in GTA:SA? Hmm, maybe because the extra coding GTA4 took to achieve its next gen graphics and physics left less space for actual "content".

Naaahhhhh, there is plenty of space on DVD9. It's not like this game was delayed was because they were dev. a method to compress the data even more to fit it on a DVD.

R* doesn't need blu-ray, their next game is gonna be PS3 exclusive because they need to make up for all that worthless DLC 360's getting.

Definetly is missing the lasting appeal after you get lets say 4/5 through the game it gets really boring because its all mission based after that no buying houses etc. Money does not matte.

However GTA is still an action adventure game and they dont last more than 2 days for me. GTA managed to last me a week well like 4 days if I played it everyday but w.e it still lasted me longer than normal and it really was a good game. It didn have as much flexibilty as san adreas but still good maybe not 10 worthy after completng it and find out things you cant do but its definetly a 9.5 worthy at the least.

There are a lot of GTA hating articles these days. Last month, it was the complete opposite.

I still like the game, and I think i know why: I only get to play an average of a 1-5 hours a week (total gaming, not just GTA).

I think ANY game can get boring if you play it to death...AKA 1 month straight...so since I only get to play a little here and a little there, it never gets stale.

Plus, this is the first GTA game I have ever played. Yes, you heard correctly. That might be a contributing factor as well, seeing as how over half of the bellyaching seems to relate to things that were either left out or added on since the last GTA game.

Either way, enjoy your gaming, whatever console or game it may be.

Bias, under the table deals for exclusive first access, fiddling with some settings to make one platform look worse, using same platform video captures - but claim it is from two platforms - to make the platform that it was taken from look bad...
