Rumour-Mill: No mention of PS3 version in latest Red Alert 3 tech demo, has the game been halted or delayed?

EA has allowed Gamespy and IGN to host a 15 minute Walkthrough trailer for Red Alert 3. It contains examples of how players will be able to build bases both on land and sea, the types of units that you'll be able to combine to create different methods of assaults, and it also plays through a mission which was developed as a tech demo.

That isn't all that this trailer reveals though, we've noticed that during the last few seconds of the footage EA mentions that Red Alert 3 is coming to the PC and Xbox 360, but no PlayStation 3 version was mentioned.

...maybe...whocares...this game....blows...i never liked it...it's boring...

Panthers6230d ago

Gotta disagree as the C&C franchise is one of my favorites. I am really hoping for a PS3 release on this one.

solidt126230d ago (Edited 6230d ago )

what is this game. Who cares this the first time I even heard of it so if it doesn't show who cares. The PS3 has plenty of exclusives that will never be on another platform. Either way if your a fan play it on the PC.

Bladestar6230d ago

@solidt12 - damn how old are you? Never heard of C&C? anyways... do you know that this game is an RTS? you speak of all the exclusives the PS3 has... can you list the name of all the RTS? now compare that list with the xbox 360 RTS games... I know... I know... bla bla... RTS suck.. consoles can't make RTS... but hey... if I am an RTS fan... and I own a console and I want to play RTS games on it.. the PS3 is not an option...

sl0w-m06230d ago (Edited 6230d ago )

Lmao @ the PS3 fanboys who hate this game for no reason.

But I do have to agree that this game blows anyway because EA ruined the C&C franchise. And what happened to that C&C FPS they were making? I remember hearing about it a while ago but not recently

Considering how easy it is to integrate mouse and keyboard support into games on the PS3 (Unreal Tournament III, for example), I don't see why more strategy developers aren't looking at the system as an option. After all, a big negative in most reviews for strategy games released on the 360 is the fact that it's just plain clunky to use a controller for any strategy-based games.

I think it's just the fact that most strategy game developers have an entire game development environment based around the PC, and it's just easier to port from the PC to the 360 than it is to the PS3. Sad really, because they would enable players to use a better functioning control scheme on a system that readily supports it (other than the PC, of course).

crimsonfox6231d ago

why they didnt add those things to pixel junk:monsters

it would have been easy indeed

thereapersson6231d ago

Because unlike the PC-centric Command and Conquer games, Pixel Junk monsters was designed with a controller in mind. It works out perfectly, and the extremely simple interface and gameplay sits well in a console environment.

crimsonfox6231d ago

but i know there's a derf out there who would use it so

eh...why not man this reminds me i need to finish that damn game haha

kingme716230d ago

They certainly can incorporate the mouse/keyboard into a PS3 control scheme, but they can't center the game with the expectation that all the users will have one. Anyone that designs on the console has to assume the user has a controller or their sales will take a beating.

3.14.08 - After a seven-year hiatus, Electronic Arts Inc. today announced the return of Red Alert, one of the most beloved and best-selling real time strategy (RTS) series of all time. Command & Conquer™: Red Alert™ 3, for the PC, Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system and the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, takes players on an epic adventure to a breathtaking alternate future spawned by time travel run amok . Developed by EA Los Angeles, Red Alert 3 breaks new ground in the RTS genre, featuring a fully co-operative campaign while bringing back the series? light-hearted style and classic, action-oriented gameplay.

Bolts6230d ago

The keyword here is "action-oriented gameplay". The RA franchise isn't one of those games where you can relax and order units into battle. Its fast, hectic and very micro heavy. Thats the problem with most PC RTS, they're designed and balanced to play with the mouse and keyboard in mind where effective microing is extremely important.

Good luck trying to micro yourself out of tank rush with a gamepad, it just can't be done.

Panthers6230d ago

That quote however, is when they announced the game for the first time. They are saying that since then, the game may have been delayed or canceled. I really hope it has not.

pushergreen6230d ago (Edited 6230d ago )

we all know the ps3 is a bugger to program, that is PROBABLY the reason for the delay? As is the case with many multis the ps3 seems to hold them all back because it is hard to program. I for one am getting sick of the ps3 delaying all the multis. Seriously though why can't there be two seperate release dates, getting the games to 360 owners 1st then later when the PS3 version is as good releasing the game for the PS3?

thenickel6230d ago

Honestly I just don't see the PS3 as a RTS or FPS console even with keyboard and mouse support. Theres just something about the 360 just makes it feel like the console for any genre this generation. MS is doing a great job diversifying there lineup and making it appealing to everybody.

Top 10 Worst Video Game Sequels

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "A while ago we counted down the very best video game sequels of all time and so we decided to flip the table and look at the very worst sequels ever made. Now we’re not specifically looking at bad sequels to bad games, that would be boring, instead we’re looking at sequels that took what was present in a good game and completely wrecked it. These 10 games started out by building up our hype to extreme levels only to shatter our dreams and break out hearts once we got our hands on them and so we’re calling these out as the worst sequels ever made."

Dragon age 2 was not a bad game, just a terrible sequel if that makes any sense. Should have been it's own IP.

Yui_Suzumiya2658d ago

I loved Dragon Age II. I even got the platinum trophy for it. That was the very first medieval themed fantasy RPG that I enjoyed aside from an Ultima game I played in the early 90's at a cousins house.

Fist4achin2658d ago

Not that it was a bad game, just not a fair successor to DAO.

NapalmSanctuary2658d ago

Surely Twisted Metal 3&4 have earned a place on this list.

Lord of Shadows 2 was one that left me scratching my head because I loved the first one! Red Faction Armageddon was another one that I still wonder why they didn't just give us something more like Guerrilla.

Halo Wars 2 and 5 Strategy Games for Console That Also Weren't Rubbish

OX writes: "Halo Wars 2 is a Halo game in which instead of controlling one big space soldier, you control lots of little space soldiers from high above the battlefield. It's a real-time strategy game, yes. But aren't strategy games on consoles always terrible? Not always, as we discover in Show of the Week."
