SHAREfactory Update In the Works

Stuart Platt of Sony reveals that an update for the PS4 application SHAREfactory is inbound, according to his recent tweet.

Yes, I have been saying this since it released. It's great, but it could use more themes, transitions and FX. Good to see it's getting updated so quickly.

Now they just need to fix the video sharing feature. The last update fixed the issue of it not recording the right time, and it seems it always gets the last 15 minutes up to when you pressed the button now. It made another bug much worse though, where it doesn't show "Press Square to Save Video" when you hit 'share' button. Now it seems to happen alot more often, where no video is being saved at all. I hope the next update fixes that issue once and foreall, so I can know that I'll not be disappointed when I press 'share' after some cool event or a monster FPS match.

Sony should put the whole Vegas Pro and the other media editing software they have. it will turn the console into a film studio. there is a massive market for that stuff out their.

When you add an effect, be that a sticker or text or whatever, it should be an option to make it visible for the amount of time you want so let's say for example, you want a bit of text to appear at minute 1:15 and want it gone at minute 1:45. At the moment when you insert an effect it stays there the entire clip until the end of that clip.

@Vitalogy, the workaround for that I guess would be to splice the film at the beginning and end points of where you want that sticker/etc to run for, then apply the fx.

Ah so you have to push Square to 'Save' your work in Share Factory??

I made a kick a** video and lost it as I couldn't see a 'Save' option...pffft Sony!!! ;/

I've been seeing that bug pretty much every time I play Killzone but never when I play any other game. My theory is that the game(s) is the cause of this problem and not the OS. Maybe some games cut the recording feature and never run the call to resume it. I say this because I noticed Killzone pauses recording at the end of online matches during the taunt screen.

@candy_mafia, no, I'm talking about the PS4 'share' button menu. Since the last update they changed it so you can get in and out quicker when you hit 'share'. So, now when you press it and it goes to the first screen they put "Press triangle to save picture" and "Press square to save video". So, you can press the button and back out to your game right away, they also shortened the time it stays stalled on that blue screen when you back out to your game. It use to take freaking years, now it's really snappy when you back out of the 'share' menu.

What is screwed is that it doesn't always restart recording a video is the issue. It had this issue from before, where you wouldn't see a new video in there when you went to upload a video. Now it just seems it's gotten worse, it's alot more often that I don't have "Press square to save video" pop up, and when that doesn't show, it means there's no new video saved at all. So, they need to fix that once and for all ASAP.

As for saving a SHAREfactory video, you can either save the project, where you are gonna finish it later, or you can render the video, where it actually makes the final new mp4 and saves it to your SHAREfactory vid folder.

@Ninjatogo, if that's possible that the game is doing it, I don't put it past COD to be one of the stupid games that screws it up. That's the main game I play when I use the 'share' after a crazy match. So, maybe I should test it more extensively with other games, though I know it still happens with other games, just not sure if COD makes it worse.

Anyone else have the problem when doing video commentary but the audio lags behind the video? Hopefully that gets fixed.

Try deleting the app and re-installing it.

Anyone else have issues with the transitions?
They cut blue for a bit and don't overlap as they did before.

It happened after a lot of editing, the whole clip became jerky. The blue cutting happened after I cut or trimmed clips after adding the transitions. I tried turning it off and boot the system and app up again but it is still there.

Maybe the update will fix this, and I would love a regret action button instead of exiting and load the project again whenever I mess up.

Hmmm, maybe something wonky happened to the project file. You might have to just delete that project file and start over.
