This Yahtze fella is quickly becoming one of my favorite reviewers. I enjoyed this but I loved his SSBB review even more.

Every game, and how "good" it is, is viewed objectively from each individuals perspective. No one game will ever be viewed in everyones mind as a good game, and even more so no single genre will ever be viewed as good in every persons mind. It is all essentially perspective and their opinion on what it is that they like. I know that may be hard to understand that other people have different opinions, especially from yours aparently, but that doesn't mean they are wrong or that you are right. Like I said earlier it is all an objective viewpoint from individuals based on their opinion.

Long short: "good" is in the eye of the beholder.

Did you even bother watching the video, coolguy6? Yahtzee elucidates quite clearly why he hates JRPGs. Namely, that they amount to a retarded form of choose you own adventure, where there is very little choosing and a crap load of dialog intense, cut scene/text "adventure." Calling JRPGs "games", in my opinion, is stretching the definition of "game" to the very limit. Any game where I can put the controller down, make a sandwich and grab a drink with plenty of time to spare before there is any level of interactivity on my part doesn't qualify as a game to me.

To pharaphrase Yahtzee - JPRGs can suck all the want as long as they do it far from me. Just one of those game types that I don't enjoy and cannot understand why anyone likes it.

Obviously a number of people don't agree but that is why they make different types of games I guess.

I don't think I can agree that being able to make a sandwich and grab a drink during a game makes it not a game. I could win a game of monopoly during a metal gear solid cutscene and i'm not even close to saying that isn't a game. in fact, its my favorite "game" series ever...

If only those other mainstream "reviewers" would get their heads out of their asses and actually critique the games they have boners for (*cough* GTA4), then maybe we would see some change in the game industry instead of the formulaic cut and paste work that is so common.

I don't get why jrpgs are the only games out there that get called out for plot lines. All games have cs and dialog to read and a somewhat linear path to lead. If there isn't dialog to read it's still there in talking form.

Always good to hear his reviews but jrpgs are not the only ones who do the faults he so dislikes.
