Nintendo HAS to Have a Proper E3 Press Conference This Year

GR: Nintendo bucked the trend last year by not holding a press conference at E3. Instead, the company decided to save some money by releasing a pre-recorded Nintendo Direct, which was an utter disaster. The stream suffered under the weight of thousands tuning in simultaneously, resulting in a frustrating experience that was only exacerbated by the fact that the reveals were disappointing as well. Shouting across a Los Angeles hotel room in an effort to figure out what Nintendo was announcing only to find out that Retro Studios was making yet another 2D side-scrolling Donkey Kong Country was heart-breaking to say the least, and certainly not how I had hoped to spend the first morning the expo opened its doors.

I really hope they do. Nintendo Directs are great but E3 is the one time of the year where they should spend some of capital they have stored up from Wii sales.

acharlez2098d ago

All we can do is hope. FINGERS CROSSED.

Fingers crossed indeed. Nintendo needs to make a real impression on gamers this year. They need to get people excited which is something they haven't really tried to do for a while.

what do you nintendo to show at e3?
even if they showed at last year e3, they would have showed the content of last year nintendo direct.
What nintendo need to do is have proper marketing plan. Nintendo direct is good, but they need to advertise the s--t out of it. Do it good or don,t do it all.

I'm saying: no show at this year e3 either.

E3 can fall into the same sort of lap as marketing. It's about letting people know about your game and making them want to play it.

Sev2098d ago

I honestly agree. That event they had last year with the broken Nintendo Direct stream was a disaster. Do it right, or don't do it at all.

This is their last chance to save the Wii U.

acharlez2098d ago

Agreed. It's time to put up or shut up.

IMO Nintendo doesn't HAVE to have a E3 press conference. The majority of people will watch it the same no matter what, except for the people attending E3. Which is through an online stream. That being said I think they should still have a huge press conference, because so many of their fans want them to. Plus it might get some of the haters to shut up about "Nintendoom", (Doubtful on that though)
Either way they decide to do it, Nintendo is gonna have a great E3!

acharlez2098d ago

You think as many people would tune into an E3 Nintendo Direct as a proper E3 presser?

randomass1712098d ago

Quite the opposite unfortunately. Nintendo being able to put on whatever show they want through a controlled environment is nice, but the issues are that E3 has a far bigger audience and Nintendo did not really take advantage of their E3 Direct time. It was only 40 minutes and it did not give us TOO much new information. It would be smart to go bigger, heavier, more hype.

Geekman2098d ago (Edited 2098d ago )

They don't HAVE too, hut it's good for morale. People need to realize they're there.

F*ck directs.

EDIT: "Yet another DK game?" Are you f*cking kidding me? Therevwere 3 DK country games, then they took a long break before Returns came out, and about a year or two later we get a sequel. That's 5 DK games with large breaks in between them. How does that qualify as rehadhed? We jnow you wanted Metroid, everybody wanted Metroid but get the flying f*ck over it.

acharlez2098d ago

Imagine if Retro announces its working on ANOTHER DKC.

Geekman2098d ago (Edited 2098d ago )

Then I'm gonna be outside with the rest of the rioters holding up a "Fire Iwata" picket sign even though I don't want him fired.

RPGrinder2098d ago

They do not have to do anything

acharlez2098d ago

I think you missed the point. :P
