Fresh3D has released the first gameplay video for its upcoming remake of the classic adventure title, Outcast.
In their latest Kickstarter update Yann Robert from Fresh3D Inc. tells everyone how they've given thought to their mistakes and that we shouldn't give up hope.
Few hours before the end of their Kickstarter campaign for their project ‘Outcast Reboot HD’, Fresh3D sarl today released their last update to thank their backers and the press for their amazing support despite that the $600.000 goal will not be reached this time.
The Kickstarter campaign for the planned Outcast Reboot HD has failed to reach its goal of $600,000, ultimately earning just over $250,000. Developers Fresh3D Inc aren't quite done yet though, promising that they are looking at other methods of gaining funding for a remastered version of the 1999 classic.
"We have received backing from over 5,100 of you for about $253.000, which is an amazing average pledge level. We are profoundly grateful and deeply touched by this amazing generosity," posted the development team on their Kickstarter campaign blog.
Was Outcast really that much of a classic? I didn't think it was beloved enough to get a reboot. I barely remember it at all.
Right from the start this struck me as more of a vanity project by the original devs / IP owners. The thing that surprised me was that they managed to raise 250k. I would have happily backed an innovative spiritual successor - but all the innovative elements of the original game have been superseded in the last 15 years.
I've backed. I so hope it gets funded but Im not optimistic at this point.
