"With the game’s open homage to the Father of Action Platformers, and its welcome additions and changes to the formula, Eridu can bring us an ever-replayable and customizable rogue-like MegaMan experience."

When I first heard of Echoes of Eridu, I saw a brief description that likened it to a roguelike Mega Man-inspired action game, and I was immediately curious to see what it could bring to the table. While it’s still in a pretty early beta state at the moment, I’ve taken some time to play around with it and I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with what’s in this brightly colored little package so far. Pretty crisp controls, some solid placeholder music and sound, and vibrant graphics bring this difficult yet rewarding indie outing to life.
There is no question Echoes of Eridu looks and feels like a Mega Man game; however, the platforming aspects, fantastic soundtrack and roguelike enemies should be enough to get your attention.
"Echoes of Eridu isn’t shy about where it draws its inspiration from. The techno-infused 8-bit soundtrack, the colorful yet futuristic-looking character and enemy models along with some fast-paced platforming that requires timing and precision all invoke memories of playing Mega Man on the SNES when I was young. Even at first glance, Echoes of Eridu doesn’t look particularly original, and it would be hard not to compare it to the venerable franchise it is influenced by. As you begin to dig deeper, however, there is a game that has a ton of potential to be a great action-platformer on its own merits."
