Interview with Alec from Team ICE

PS3-Sense.nl writes: "An inside look at the hacking scene of the PS3, that is what PS3-Sense.nl will give you in the upcoming weeks. We have been curious why the hackers want to hack the console. We contacted old Team ICE member Alec. Team ICE was in the spotlights last year thanks to their elf2self exploit, which is shown in the video below.

Just after their 'debut', Team ICE decided to split up, work alone and they disappeared. We were curious how much progress they have made since then."

Very interesting! I hope they eventually hack the PS3 for homebrew, don't care about iso loaders :)

theKiller6231d ago

but not now, it will bee good in 2009 and when prices goes down, like that the masses of the mass market will jump to get a ps3!

Alexander Roy6232d ago

Hackers? Don't make me laugh. Team ICE was one of the biggest scams in the PS3 hacking scene to date. They suddenly appeared, told everyone they had some kind of hack, continued with talking about how everyone should be waiting for them and then just left after a lot of people already said they were fake. Team ICE are nothing but a bunch of poor losers who desperately wanted attention.

tweaker6232d ago

Yup. I really don't think these guys or Dark_Alex will ever hack the PS3. It's not like they actually hacked the PSP. There was an exploit in the 1.5 firmware that allowed homebrew execution with the "Swaploit" discovery. From there it started the PSP homebrew scene, not from them. That's why I highly doubt they'll be close or first to finding any exploit on the PS3.

Alexander Roy6231d ago

Actually, homebrew started on v1.00 due to some awesome guy - who's name I forgot, shame on me - who managed to run code on it as there were no real restictins to it.
The reason why people love DAX is - I think - that he practically unlocked the PSP and it's capabilities. His CFW allowed different video resolutions way before Sony officially allowed it. He may not have created the PSP scene, but he sure is one of the main reasons there still is one - although it's quite quiet atm.
Anyway, I don't care who's the one to first bypass the hypervisor, but there is one thing I am sure of: Team ICE can go **** themselves. Yeah, excuse my language, but they contributed absolutely nothing productive to the scene except fooling those who believed in them.

tweaker6231d ago (Edited 6231d ago )

True. Well it was found in 1.0 that you could run unsigned code directly off the GAME folder, I know that. But it wasn't till the exploit found in the 1.5 firmware when the Homebrew scene exploded and took off. I was there since day one. 1.0 didn't do jack for us 1.5 owners at the time, only launch Japan gamers had them.

I hope PS3 never gets hacked. I don't want my system's security jeopardize. PS3 specific viruses, no thanks. Not gona become another Windows victim.

clintos596232d ago

has done a very good job with the ps3 being hacked. I mean its been out for 1 year and 5 months and still hasnt been hacked unlike the 360 and wii they have been hacked and u can burn games for those 2 consoles. If this an inidication of advanced hardware then the ps3 shows me it does have potential under its hood that is waiting to be unleashed. When devs really get to take full advantage of the ps3 u can almost be sure that the ps3 will be show casing some mind boggling details and have more areas u can take advantage of such as physics and smart AI etc etc. My friend has offered to mod my 360 and wii but id rather pass and just be a true gamer and support gamesm but he told me that they still havent found a way to hack into the ps3. Like I said eventually they will do it but it sure is proof that sony did a great job building the ps3, or may I say ken kuturagi and all the people who worked on it.

CRIMS0N_W0LF6231d ago

if ps3 gets hacked it will sell millions. psone and ps2 sold a lot due to mod chip.

Cyb3r6231d ago

BS these are the same guys that said that they created the first true modchip for the Xbox 360 and were proven fake

I hope it's a remake of the 1st game. But it's probably just the PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption 2

OtterX1d 2h ago

I hope a PS5 upgrade launches on the same day as announcement & it costs no more than $10. I already bought the Ultimate Edition once, they got good money from me.

I stopped playing completely 2 years ago until they did 60fps. I really didn't expect it would take this long & I didn't want to start completely over on PC.

dmonee15h ago

My wish is that its optimized for current gen machines, with some sort of story expansion. Undead nightmare 2! My 2nd wish is that it just shadow drops on the day of the announcement!.

Lionsguard14h ago

Give me my RDR2 Undead Nightmare already.

The Evil Within Deserved More: A Great Horror Series Left Behind

The Outerhaven writes: While I hold Bethesda's The Evil Within series as some of the best Survival Horror games available, it's clear that Bethesda has no intention of revisiting the series. While Capcom is still working on its Resident Evil series, I look back at the now-dead survival horror series from Bethesda, wondering why the series was left wide open, and yet still not revisited.

An OK horror series left behind. It had some great ideas, but it never knew how to play to its strengths. Instead, it came out like just another RE4 clone.

I would love for a third entry to come out, but it needs to learn to lean in on the psychological aspect and move away from the generic "pew pew" ideology at the center of the gameplay loop. It doesn't need to abandon it; it just needs to put it into better context, is all.

Also, try a first-person perspective instead. Too many 3rd-person games with nothing to offer but an avatar taking precious screen space. At least make it an actual option and not that janky-ass mess the second game pretended to have.

Love both games, hope that we will get third game
