PS4 vs Xbox One - price reductions in the Microsoft camp

Major retailers in Germany including Amazon slashing the Xbox One price.

I think this gen more than any other gamers will miss out on a lot of great games if they only choose one console.

Very true. Eventually I'll have all three, but for now I can only afford one (including the WiiU which I bought last year.).

I currently have all three now gen consoles. And I can honestly say only one gets a lot more use than the other two.

I don't want that to happen this new gen.

I hear that. I was able to trade in to cut down on the price. I have a xb1/ps4 now. I'm waiting ( fingers crossed) for a price cut on the wii u and Zelda.

The question is can this E3 turn things around for MS in the general game related market, not your personal preference.

And while most are waiting for E3 I'm waiting for TGS.

Need to see if Japan is even going to bother with the 8th console gen. Whether or not its just going to be AAA efforts or PS2 level port with graphics upscaled to PS3.

I think last E3 definitely showed that MS has a renewed sense of focus for games. And with all the rumors from MS of their E3 being crammed with games I don't think the game market has anything to worry about.

I'm more worried about Sony's possible focus on Morpheus games only for E3. I am not convinced or a fan of VR.

As for Japan and their games, it will be interesting. We really saw the rise and dominance of western development this gen as a lot of Japanese games took a back seat to more western games.

I think MS is going to have a great E3, even if they only show more of what we already know about. We've barely seen Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5, etc.
Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a price drop for the X1. They're being outsold quite readily and they saw what the sporadic price cuts have done in the last month or so.

And I honestly don't know what to expect from Sony at this point. Nothing against indies, Morpheus, and the like, but I like to be blown away with trailers at E3.

Last E3 MS was reeling from their DRM policies. Hiding from them. This E3 they need to more than "just show games". They need to present a balanced clarification of what they plan to present to consumers. Build trust. If its just the usual smoke mirrors and PR BS, that's going to be found out when the games come out.

@lsujester: And again, are MS going to do more than usual, just show higher grade CG than the finished product can do on the XB1, live action segments with staged responses, or are they going to present *real gameplay*?

Are they going to talk to gamers, or are they going to do like they've done in the past and talking to the general market?

Sony likely will be showing off VR, and as with Move and Wonderbook, it'll up a chunk of their presentation, but as with past E3s, it'll very likely be longer than MS's.

Hell, between PS Now, still supporting the PS3 as well as two other platforms, like the last E3 Sony could have multiple presentations.

it will be hard paying subscription fees xb1,ps4 netflix, amazon prime, crunchroll, and other bills. so i doubt ill ever own both the x1 and ps4. i might just get a wiiu.

Some of us that don't have any desire of owning the Kinect would rather get it without Kinect AND cheaper than PS4.

If Kinect adds around $100 to the price, and they sell a SKU without Kinect, that would make it $399, BUT the Xbox One is weaker than the PS4, so some of us still wouldn't purchase it at that price due to it being weaker.

Personally, I can't see paying more than $299 for it. I just don't value it the same as the PS4.

And yet it plays the games the exact same way as the PS4, and being on N4G you have to know that in time the games will get better resolution wise for the Xbox One.

While I agree to a point, I think that kinect should stay, simply because they designed it with kinect in mind, its part of the whole system and while not for me I can see why they did it, when I can get one for 300 pounds I will jump, but so far the ps4 is doing its job so im not even really missing not having a one yet.

It's the concept of inflated cost. Simply put, if you don't want the Kinect, then any price is going to feel inflated by roughly $100 dollars because it feels like a pointless extra you're paying for. So even if it was as much as the PlayStation 4, people know it would be even cheaper if they removed the Kinect.

And your forgetting about inferior framerate in some titles as well like Tombraider for example.

That might be true but weaker hardware will always be weaker. Which means in the future developers will have two choices with Xbox One games. They can either render a game in 1080P but sacrifice graphical detail or they can reduce the resolution to maintain the same level of visuals as the PS4 version. Either way your still getting the inferior version of a multiplat. However if you game on PC and have a good rig you will always get the superior versions of any console game.

@admiralvic But people on this site will all ways tell you it needs to cheaper. If it was a 100$ they would say it needs to 50$.
As for the Kinect if it is used if unique ways it could be cool. It can read you heart beat there are many ways the it could add functions to a game rather that just motions and speech and with it being in every box this could happen.

People don't want Kinect. Period. Some do, but not nearly as many as those who don't, or so it would seem.

Even without Kinect, even at a cheaper price, I won't be getting one. That's because Microsoft is backing the console. A lot of people feel the way I do, but not everyone. That's why sales went up when the price got cut and Titanfall got added.

Stop acting like everybody has the same reasons for not getting one. admiralvic is right that it'll still FEEL too expensive as long as something they don't want us included.

Stop acting like Kinect is this huge hindrance keeping people from buying the system. The Kinect camera has specific features for the Xbox One that makes it unique for the system and some of the games.

And it's obvious from the use of the PS4 camera that having this device is becoming popular with gamers.

People do want Kinect over 4 million people did and bought a X1. But keep backing Sony all you want and why are you speaking for some one else?
Sony is just as bad and will implement DRM on all of you games and make you rebuy them over and over and over. "Sony dose not know you exist" they are not your friend you are a statistic nothing more.
