Doesn't look like the performance gap between PS4 and XB1 will go away or become any less obvious.

NewMonday3814d ago

Mark Cerny talked about the APU from the start, the PS4 is good from the very start, but GPU compute is what it will be about in the future, games like Killzone and inFAMOUS are just the start and will look average compared to future 1st party games.

randomass1713814d ago

Absolutely, PS4 games will look spectacular by the end of the generation. I'm pretty sure Wii U and Xbox One games will also visually improve over time, but PS4 is the one that's going to hold the high spot for graphics this generation, no ifs ands or buts about it.

TitanUp3814d ago

that sounds crazy, infamous and killzone looks terrific. crazy to think uncharted may surpass those games in graphics

ObiWanaTokie3814d ago

i just cant fathom what we will see in 3 -5 years. it will be legend- wait for it-

kaiserfranz3814d ago

Indeed, there will be very, very interesting stuff!

stuna13814d ago

Just compare compute units of the PS4 as opposed to the Xbox1, there are 50% more units in the PS4. The fact that Sony is not talking about a lot of thing in the PS4 that are hardware specific, gives the impression that they are in noway, shape or, form intimidated by anything Microsoft have shown thus far!

Some are under the impression that Sony is sitting back idling their time away, while the competitor is moving full steam ahead! But yet it's amazing how quick some forget, it was Sony who coined the phrase "This is a Marathon , not a Sprint!"

MasterCornholio3814d ago (Edited 3814d ago )

I agree with you. I hate those morons who think that DX12 will boost the power of the Xbox One so much that it will surpass the PS4s. If there's one thing that in learned is that strong hardware is needed to produce graphically intensive games. No amount of software updates will boost a gameboy (for example) to perform on the same level as a PS4.

vlashyr3814d ago

Surely DX12 will give an extra boost to the Xbox one but will never exceed Ps4.

kaiserfranz3814d ago

Let's hope they can show some nice games using compute already by E3/Gamescom.

TheUltimateGamer3814d ago

Pretty much what I was thinking. We know they've got the power, let's see them actually use it.

Summons753814d ago

I've heard "this is a marathon, not a sprint" way before Sony ever said it. But you are correct. Compared to last gen Sony is playing their cards just right.MS fumbled this gen the minute they decides to focus on the social and cable box and less on games. Last gen Sony focused on social and it led to a messy system until they refocused on games. 2009 on were all about games. Hopefully MS will regroup quick and rethink the cable box.

Cueil3814d ago

50 percent more doesn't mean 50 percent more on screen... that's not how this works

AtomicGerbil3814d ago

More is more regardless of what it achieves.

Cueil3813d ago

@strickers the dimishing law of return applies to CUs... it's the reason MS chose a mhz increase over activating the two extra CUs

I'm glad that they didn't blab about how compute is perfect and doesn't have any flaws. Its great to see developers be honest about technology that they are working with.

:)

Can't wait to see more games use compute.

randomass1713814d ago

Generally that's how Sony devs are. From the interviews I've read, they're very down to earth and honest about what they do and how they do it.

Ninjatogo3814d ago

"they're very down to earth"
I guess you could there heads aren't in the *clouds*
;D I had to.

micx3814d ago

Down to Earth, that's always good.

They really need to

Go off the evil ending off Second Son

Delsin absorbs all those powers

Revealed he’s the real Beast and John in Infamous 2 was just an anomaly created by timelines being messed with by Kessler.

Cole vs the Real Beast

gold_drake67d ago

quite honestly, i dont remember a whole lot about 2 amymore, but i absolutely hated the guy in second son haha.

chicken_in_the_corn66d ago

It would make more sense to go off the evil ending of 2 and the good ending g of SS where Cole is The Beast.

Cacabunga66d ago

Doesnt make any sense calling second son 2 as infamous 3..

OtterX66d ago

Ha, yea Delsin was obnoxious.

I wouldn't mind another new character, but somehow bring Cole into the story.

We can just pretend like Delsin never existed. :)

thejigisup66d ago

Everyone that age is obnoxious. It's been years and is like to think delsin has grown

neutralgamer199266d ago

Until we wait for a potential new entry it would awesome to have infamous collection for PS5

RaidenBlack66d ago

Umm ... how about this?
First we get the Tushima sequel(coz its most rumored)
Then a new Resistance (need new PS SP FPS)
Then a totally new IP (new IPs are always interesting)
And then a new inFamous?

Pepsi_Man300066d ago

resistance is insomniac I think

xHeavYx66d ago

Can we also get a complete remaster of InFamous 1 and 2?

fr0sty66d ago

Gimme a new Warhawk and MAG while we're at it.

DivineHand12566d ago

I had a great time with the second son. Never got to play the originals and hope they get remastered one day.

DazaMc66d ago

The graphics were amazing, I got the platinum on that one. Very good.

ChasterMies66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

If I had a choice between another Infamous game and another Spider-Man game, I choose Spider-Man. Sony should spend its resources on its winners.

Tacoboto66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

Infamous was such a winner its studio was given the freedom (after 3 titles + their expansions) to do a new IP with GoT, just like with Sly Cooper before infamous.

I'd welcome a 4th title even more than another Spider-Man, it'd be exciting what they could do with new powers fit for the hardware outside the limits of a licensed superhero game.

jznrpg66d ago

Spider-Man is guaranteed and is made by Insomniac so why not both as Sucker Punch would make Infamous.

How Does inFAMOUS Second Son Hold up 10 Years Later?

inFAMOUS Second Son was one of PS4's best exclusives, but does it hold up a decade later?

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM255d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck255d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati255d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

jznrpg66d ago

@OmegaSoldati I’ve had a few of the highest end PC’s and they’re cool for about a year then they aren’t the highest end PC anymore and not as cool. It’s way overrated imo.

Profchaos255d ago (Edited 255d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion
