Did Ubisoft Give Journalists a Free Nexus 7 Tablet at a Watch_Dogs Preview Event?

At times being a game journalist has its perks. You may remember the free Xbox 360 given a couple years to all attendees of the Microsoft press conference at E3, or Sony dropping a year of PlayStation Plus on those that were present at its own presser. More recently, everyone that attended the PS4's official press presentation in New York received the console with his name engraved on the HDD bay, even if that one could easily be interpreted as a review unit.

Apparently Ubisoft might have gone down that way at a recent press event in Paris, designed to showcase Watch_Dogs. Some attendees allege having received an Asus Nexus 7 tablet as part of the event's "asset kit."

This always happens, people get statues, headphones, flights paid for and everything. There's a few sites that turn down these things.
Sites should make it policy to list what promo items they get when writing reviews.

Now we know what they money the receive from DLC is being spent on: Bribing 'journalists'.

randomass1711861d ago

Wouldn't put it past them.

so journalist get free games, free swag, free tablets all types of other things and then are supposed to be unbiased at the end of the day lol.

i couldnt be unbiased it would feel like im betraying a friend or something, they get me all that cool stuff and then i call their product crap. i would feel like i betrayed that person or group of people.

(basing this purely off of Eurogamer) i know EG put it at the bottom of the article what's been paid by them or what's been paid by the publisher/dev/randomer... i just assumed other sites did this

CustardTrout1861d ago

Some do, some don't, I know first hand a lot of places avoid telling their readers about the Christmas gifts and the like

csreynolds1861d ago (Edited 1861d ago )

Nothing says "love our game" better than free swag. A la bribery.

randomass1711861d ago

To be fair, game publishers do this all the time. Jim Sterling got a lot of free Sonic stuff when he was sent his review copy of Sonic Generations (or Colors).

Axonometri1861d ago

Yay! Watchdogs gets a 10!

Abriael1861d ago

GiantFriendlyCrab1861d ago (Edited 1861d ago )
